Hacker Simulator Feedback
I am still loving your sim. This play-through with autocomplete is significantly different. Many more “clever” solutions work now!
Sincere thanks for the many improvements so far. This message is me trying to be helpful.

1. Upload program does not check folder encryption. Not sure if this is intentional.

2. The Decrypt program sets the cursor off/deselected/invalid. User must mouse-click to resume text entry, between using keyboard to run program and using keyboard to enter solution-codes. None of the other programs seem to have this problem. FWIW, Decrypt also seems to clear the arrowkey last-command buffer.

3. Active Window issues (the Saga Begins). Quite often, a window is clicked once and remains not-selected. Clicking twice enters text-selection mode.
Sometimes, the first click only puts the clicked window on top of other windows but then it just sits there when I type. I wax poetic: “Where are my keystrokes going?”
I doubt allowing windows to be put in a glitched-out state was an intentional design decision.
The above-mentioned decrypt issue is one reliable a way to make a Terminal window enter this sort of state.

4. Active Window issues (Part II – with roman numerals, so you know it’s fancy).
Suggestion: Please mark the active window somehow? I like visual cues like color coded title-bar or borders. Active, not-active, and new-text-to-read are popular states to display.

5. Active Window issues (Part III – the Gratuitous Sequel).
Suggestion: I want a way to "persistently" keep a window Active. Currently every single Terminal window "grabs" the focus when it finishes its current operation. Which can interrupt other typing tasks.
I suggest a third button on the title-bar which would indicate 'active window' with one color, and change color when clicked to 'lock' the window.
It could automatically de-select when the next command it Enter'ed, or when another window is made Active.
Or stay locked until re-clicked to toggle it off. Does anybody actually want to type in one window while clicking around other windows looking for the MacGuffin?

6. Old-school terminals had a thing called 'half duplex' where one could type and edit a whole line of text, and it would not be sent until one hit the Enter key.
Modern communication systems like text messaging feature a text-composition area at the bottom of the screen, separate from the conversation.
I would love to have an optional Text-composition field on the bottom of Terminal windows, so I could queue up the next step.

7. Are there keyboard shortcuts for Opening New Terminals or Switching between (in-game) Programs/windows? Because that would be the whipped cream, nuts, and cherry on top of this yummy Hacking Sundae.
Autocomplete is new and folks are using keyboards. I really must suggest a keyboard-friendly update while it is relevant.

8. If you do want to innovate, making new features optional in Settings is one tried-and-true method. But pretty much Any interface-changing upgrades could be in-game upgrades... Just a suggestion.

Okay, thanks again, bye.

I realize this is a bit dated, but I have to add my vote for all of these recommendations.

This game is quite tedious when it comes to gaining and keeping focus of a window. What's more, I have to select in exactly the right spot of the terminal window to get the input field. I can click anywhere on the window and I do get focus, and I can even hit tab a few times to access the input field (although my mileage varies with this capability; and this needs fixing too), but it's very frustrating when I'm the middle of decrypting a folder only to lose my input and have to click with my mouse. I would much rather keep my hands on the keyboard at all times when on the computer. There's precious seconds lost to this poor implementation.

2. I would love to have an alt-tab capability so I can switch between in game windows. Of course this my play havoc with my real OS, so it might make more sense to change the key combo, but again, hands on keys at all times when possible is ideal.

3. It's SUPER tedious to make your way to getting a mining rig. It takes too many repeat phishing attempts, which at first was novel, but now is over the top annoyingly slow and again just tedious. Waiting seemingly 30 seconds every time I want to wait for a persons reply back to my phishing attempt is literally putting me to sleep while I wait. If anything randomize the response to something like every 10 seconds +/- random(3..5). At least then it'll feel a bit more realistic.

4. It would also be nice to have some sort of notification when the package arrives so I don't have to keep getting up to go check. It's not that big of a deal, but again, I'm all about efficiency and we get this in real world, so I wouldn't think it'd be that difficult to implement with a fake UPS or FEDEX site to check on the status of the delivery. If not a webpage, or if not only just a webpage, but also an on screen notification for delivery arrived. You're already providing notifications for money made during mining or successful missions.

5. Taskbar behavior: I would also recommend that when an unfocused window is selected for focus, from the taskbar at the bottom, that it doesn't minimize before it refocuses. I always have to click twice to get a window into focus and because the clicks aren't queued, I have to slowly click and wait a split second before I can click again to pull the window back into focus.

6. Resizing windows would be nice too. I'd like to run the tracer in a smaller terminal off to the side so it stays in focus, but doesn't consume as much real estate. This one's not as important because I can emulate this behavior just by putting it in the bottom right corner. Where this would be helpful would be if I could resize the web browser.

7. Speaking of web browser, it would be nice if there could be more than one instance or multiple tabs so I can do more than one phishing mission at a time. If I could better leverage my time with more efficiency then I wouldn't be so bored waiting for long response times in Fishbook.

Don't get me wrong, I do like the game, but I'm having a hard time keeping with it due to tedium and very slow progression. I only just got my mining rig up after using illicit means to get myself a little bit more money to get past the grind of getting enough money. Once I had enough I put away the illicit tools and went back to playing the game. It's now much more enjoyable and I look forward to my next mamazon purchase.
