This is the game that manages to turn dystopian body horror into a beautiful piece of art.

INCISION is a boomer shooter (fast-paced fps with retro graphics), with plenty of similarities to DUSK, but at the same time, enough peculiarities to make it unique. It is set in a dystopian cyberpunk world, filled with grotesque creatures and surroundings (really explicit stuff) and you have to go level after level killing everything that stands in your way. For that purpose, you count with a vast arsenal of really awesome weapons (machine gun, minigun, rocket luncher, shotgun and so on), all of them hitting quite a punch and being so satisfying to use, and with plenty of ammunition on each level, but don't get careless, because enemies are strong, some of them really fast, some of them with impressive weapons too, and some of them can take more than a few shots to be turn into pieces (because you are not just killing them, you are turning them into pieces of dead meat), so difficulty is hard in an enjoyable level.

Even when the game is in theory linear, there is plenty of verticality and secrets for the players to explore (and I mention that because I know boomer shooter gamers really love their secrets). As in DUSK, some levels are a bit more straightforward and narrow, while others are HUGE and quite open, and you might spend more time exploring the surroundings than killing enemies (if you care, of course, because you can always just go straight for the kill).

Bosses are insanely hard and they can feel unfair if you are not ready, because it is almost impossible to avoid all the attacks of some of them (not all the bosses are like that). However, the games grants you enough ammunition and extra lifes to stand your ground for long enough until you kill them... Just avoid as much as you can and worry more about hitting every single one of your must powerful shots.

Finally, I need to mention the amazing job of this solo developer, to create such an amazing world. When I mentioned that about body horror being beautiful, I meant it. When you are done with some waves of enemies, just look at the amount of details the surroundings have... It was completely unnecessary, because probably some players wouldn't even notice, but the dev worked hard and you can tell... Some beautiful pixel crafting in so many halls, hallways and just entire buildings, that is such a delight to behold when you take a break of the butchery.

To summarize, amazing boomer shooter for fans of the genre. I would rate it 9/10 (being honest here, I am not a big fan of levels that are too open, even though I know a lot of gamers love it).
