That was quite a journey.

In short, it's a wonderful story driven game with amazing sound design and visuals. Definitely a good choice if you’re looking for a memorable experience.

Sigono my beloved

This is one of the most fascinating genre mashups I've played in many years. At its core is a narrative-focused visual novel, but there are are also modified dice roll-based choices similar to Disco Elysium, segments that control like a 2.5D platformer with light puzzles like a PnC adventure game, and underneath all of that sits a Privateer-lite experience where you explore a star map, visit various locations around the galaxy, meet the locals, and trade goods.

The game has tremendous vibes. It is incredibly effective at evoking the vastness and emptiness of space, while dotting it with unique outposts that are full of life and history. The amount of personality that has been put into each of these settlements and landmarks makes exploration a joy.

There are a few rough edges. The art is generally beautiful but the 3D character models that are used in the puzzle platformer segments are a bit rough, with limited animation. The characters can occasionally come off as a bit one-note, although I did think the narrative in general is a strong one, that resolves itself in an emotionally satisfying way.

Strong recommendation, a master class in how to make a game feel like a grand space adventure without a AAA budget.
