Hey there!
There has been an initial mistake on the US pricing, it should be $40/40€. The price has been corrected.
And to answer your concerns:
Mandragora production quality is unlike most of the indie games on the market, with a massive fantasy story written by one of the living legends of the gaming industry (Brian Mitsoda), voiced by BAFTA-winner talents (see IMDB for reference: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt31109474 ), sounds created by the same folks who made the sounds for Witcher 3 among many other AAA games. And I could go on, but the point is: overall hundreds of extremely talented people, including countless industry veterans have contributed to it over the 7 years of development. The game is massive, production quality and content wise as well.
Being it a Metroidvania is one of many elements of the game, but it is certainly not the main comparison point we are aiming for. Mandragora is first and foremost an action RPG, with 6 different classes that you can mix, with 100s of abilities/upgrades/passives, with a diverse character creator, with overall more than 100 different enemies, which have such a complex animation and gameplay systems that each took months (some years) to perfect.
Mandragora will offer a lot more already on the first playthrough, with gameplay variety that is extremely rare in metroidvanias. Even the first playthrough is going to be 40+ hours and then you didn't even touch anything extra in the game, and didn't try any other classes, or story branches.
I hope this helps. :)
I'm hyped! I'm sad it's only going to come out next year, as I'll be working in Japan by the time the game comes out I think, but when I do one day get around to playing it, man....I'm excited. The demo was amazing.
Even the Preview 1 that you are getting with your purchase today, is about 5 hours long, and that is barely 10% of the full game. Thank you for your purchase, enjoy the game!
Hello!
No content is cut from the main game. The pre-order quest is an additional fun, lighthearted story, separate from any main story line happening in the game. The pre-order quest will be available at a later date for everyone.
After playing through the playtest however, i´m pretty convinced that it´ll be worth it. It already plays great, apart from some minor issues, and i´m excited to play more of it. For me it has the feel of a soulslike mainly, rather than a metroidvania, although these are related genres anyway (especially concerning interconnected maps)
