frequent micro stutters?
Hello
I just bought the game as it was on sale and I loved the original on ps3. I have a very good gaming rig with a rtx 4090 and i5 13600k as well as 32gb ram and I have it downloaded onto an SSD. The steam in game fps counter shows it stays over 100fps all the time but I can definitely feel frequent momentary stutters quite a lot. It feels like it momentarily drops down to 30fps for a split second and then back up to 120 fps quite frequently. Its extremely brief but noticeable and and annoying. I messed about with the settings a bit and tried capping fps to different amounts but to no avail. Any fix suggestions? It mainly happens while exploring moreso than in tense combat. Is this a common issue or am I alone with this?
Thanks for any helpful replies.

That’s the state of the game unfortunately
Zero stutters on my end.
i had a few but not enough to really cry over.

4090 with an i5....why do I find that hilarious? that's like spending all your money on a ferrari and then having no money left over for gas.

I5 13600k is plenty powerful alongside a 4090. Most games these days that I play are more gpu heavy anyway and I originally was gonna go for 4080 but when the price was announced I said screw it might as well go for the 4090 at that point. As it stood I went about a grand over what I wanted to pay so didnt wana go any higher. Going for an i7 or i9 was another few hundred and I just said nah. Its also easier to keep the i5 cool as opposed to the I9 so I said screw it and stuck with i5. :) It has served me plenty well so far anyway and even won the cpu of the year in terms of price to performance :)

Don't use any of the latest NVIDIA drivers they're garbage, the best most stable driver was/is the 537.58. Try that and is may suppress the stuttering

Yeah watched digital foundrys video on it after I made this post. I refunded. Was gonna pick it up on ps5 but apparantly similar issue there too. Really odd that they would just leave the game like that as its otherwise really damn solid.

I have a 2070s and an i7...was very smooth. m.2 ssd. 1440p Sucks to be you bud.

As far as digital foundry- their biggest complaint was a stutter in a cutscene. Also...they were bought by ign...that should tell you something. The clueless buying the clueless.

I am talking about this digital foundry video. Not their first one. Its playable but after an hour the constant micro stutters were getting to me. They demonstrate it perfectly in this video. Not actually hating on the game, Its very good I was really enjoying it but its a damn shame they didnt get the stutters under control.

plenty of games have issues- this one has a minor one. It is difficult to take df seriously when their major gripe was about a stutter in a cutscene- it's in a different video. They also mentioned dspace was their game of the year.

That video also states the better the machine the less stuttering- so you shouldn't be having a major stutter issue with your rig unless you are one of these weirdos with 40 chrome tabs, rgb garbage, cpourn etc..

Oh I agree and my stutters are not major at all but frequent which was my issue, its just annoying because it happens every 2 or 3 rooms so when I am playing I am waiting for the next stutter rather than getting absorbed into the world lol. Other than the stutters its a damn great remake from what I can see. I loved the original and this seems like the same but better. Its literally the only issue I can find with the game.
There are traversal stutters when moving to new areas in this game. There's unfortunately nothing that you can do about them.

It's tragic. Smart move

I am not even sure why this one game bothers you so much. I spent 70 bucks on starfield and I even ran into a bethesda employee and told them how disappointed I was in the game. His response was ya- I was disappointed too- turns out he didn't work on starfield but he said bethesda deserves the negative reviews.

The difference is I am not on the starfield board constantly complaining about it. It is like you have never experienced real world problems. It is definitely strange to be obsessed over complaining about a game that was basically a charity case for EA.

But again, thanks for supporting my EA stock even though it was a tiny contribution. :)

I have a midrange rig that can handle all High settings at 1440p with 80-100fps with FSR2 Quality. I only get stutters for a couple seconds when I load in an area for the first time, and only the first time. E.G: Opening the door to Hydroponics, stepping off the tram into Ore storage, going to the cryo chamber for the first time. It just 'loads' the next levels in real time, but it's nothing game breaking. I've noticed there aren't any enemies inbetween level transitions so the game usually gives you a break anyway.

The only time it put me in danger was the second tentacle encounter, that stuttering transition almost cost me my impossible run.
i had basically the same experience. I don't understand people that complain for over a year in here over a single player experience- if you want help ask for help.

I realized starfield was a pile of crap and that was it- I realized there is no use in complaining over the game. I let it go.
