Dead Space
Dead Space 2 would never have worked with "mature" Nicole. (Nic-Old?)
OK lets get down to the Brass Tacks. In DS2 Nicole had an expanded role and was turned into a seductive Maria type character.

Now seriously think about it for a moment - can you seriously imagine "mature" Nicole - with her 40 a day Marlboro habit and Jack Daniels voice crawling over that desk on her hands and knees?

Can you imagine "mature" Nicole putting her hand seductively on Isaac's thigh tempting him to follow her as she wiggles herself down that corridor?

I'm not even joking here - it would never work.

Either DS2 Remake was never going to be made or they were going to change it beyond recognition.

Where's the bait? These are facts, Remake Nicole would never work in a DS2 remake. The real Nicole is meant to be a seductive alien . Evidently you have never even seen Dead Space 2.

This old looking, haggard Nicole is a completely different character. It's the way of things.

Why would you want to focus on erotics in such an environment?

Did you miss the info the whole place smells like vomit, with rotten and moist flesh hanging all around the walls? Let's not forget the constant threat of death and specially the personal space you'd need to have sex. It's probably going to be the best love you've ever made to a girl if you ever did at all.

So unless you're some weird fan of necrotic sex I see no point in sexualizing this game at all. The remake is way more mature than the original, you just fail to see it.

Sex and Death are the two great hinges on which all great horror fiction swings. That's why Dead Space was designed that way.

From the beginning with Frankenstein and Phantom of the Opera all the way through to Alien and Jason. Sex and Death are a constant.

Remove one of those hinges and the door falls off.

Nicole is dead.

Any interaction with said character in DS2 is not real, as such, they have the creative freedom to do what ever they want if the sequel comes to fruition. Her on screen time is quite low compared to pretty much everyone else anyways. Though not insignificant.

I would be bummed out if they change Ellie, as she was a breath of fresh air vs Daina and a welcome addition to the cast IMHO.

Isaac is supposed to be seeing the way Nicole looked BEFORE she died - not AFTER she died.

I dont believe I have made the case for that, especially considering DS2 remake isnt publicly available.

OP states that DS2 cant work because of current remake, I argue that they have the creative freedom within the established world to "fix" it. As Nicole is dead and any appearance is the Marker.

As for your counterpoint, doesnt hold water, as I dont think Isaac ever witnessed Nicole with a hollowed out skull emitting beams of light climbing on a table to force feed a goat screaming session while alive. Which is how that character is introduced in DS2 and remains that way until like what? 3 quarters through the game?

I have beaten DS2 more times than I can remember... When was she supposed to be seductive? Like, cite a specific scene. I am drawing a blank. There is not 1 single moment in that game when she is meant to appear to be seductive at all.

That may be the case on EA's mind but the customer is always right. In this case EA were "disappointed" at the sales because the paying customer didn't like the changes made to one of their most beloved memories.

The result - no DS2 because of poor sales. EA tried to force the DS audience to like ugly characters, even the npc's, and they learned the hard way that never works.

Without Respect - We Reject.

Evidently. If you can't keep up with the conversation best not to join in.
