So even if you can get into a game with your mate. There is likely no guarantee you'll even be able to get anywhere.
At the beginning though, I as the joiner had severe desyncs on the first 1-3 turns. After reconnecting those away, it hasn't had any visible desyncs up to our current break at turn 33.
We have the AI takeover on, but neither of us have dared to use it.
revert a turn tool doesn't work as intended iether. revert many turns instead at once.
last game it reverted from turn 15 to turn 9 after a gamebreaking bug that prevented us to continue playing.
aow planetfall mp works well. even with mods and lots of AIs, desyncs are very rare, no crash, manual battles works witohut issues, end battle screen comes fast too. revert tool does work as intended (revert only one turn instea of multiple ones.)
and it does use the same kind of servers as AOW4... the only big difference is that you cannot play your turn in planetfall if all players aren't in the game.
but p2p could work too, yeah.
