Very enjoyable to play. Multiplay works wonderfully. Two of us grandmothers playing together! Time just flew! Had to gift the game to my sister (also a grandmother) and her husband and my niece. Can't wait until we all multiplay together! Flying with the glider was very difficult at first (I died), but it is getting better. I love the concept, the story. Combat became easy once I got a sword and remembered to aid my health before battle with food and drink. And I have only played 12 hours - most of which was learning and getting resources. I just finally found my home island. And so the story continues....

So this is a game with a good foundation that needs some more time in the oven. Once things are ironed out and in a decent shape I would be willing to revisit this review.

Graphical Issues

Gameplay Issues

- Some islands are impossible to restore (The Devs are aware and looking into this)
- Progression can be confusing and not well guided.
- Crops have a variety of issues (planting coffee/sugar beets can result in getting wheat, coffee can often not produce enough seeds to sustain planting. Some islands require you to plant more wild seed variants than currently available. [Known Issue.] )
- Gameplay loop can become rather stale, as your only real goal is to reach the "?" marked islands for progression, and then hunt down knowledge stones and anchors for technologies. Eventually you'll end up being handed numerous decoration items from knowledge stones and you'll want to just move on to the next area.
- Charcoal can be very difficult to acquire in larger player games, as it is a found resource and cannot be crafted. It's used for sketching/learning new building pieces, lighting fires, some construction, and clean water recipes.

Combat

Combat is a bit painful. You have the option to hit, or dodge. There's a block in this game but it can only be used after about a half second after you swing at the earliest. Usually resulting in you trying to block, but not being able to until after you've been hit. (You have a little cooldown/combo bar that shows up as you swing, and cannot block until the bar completes it's cycle.)

Killing the fungus orbs from too far away with the Bow, can soft lock that corruption tree growth and soft lock you. (Possible fix is to exit to main menu and reload save.)

Again, the game has potential but it feels like it needs a little more TLC before I can really recommend it. Any other aspect not listed I have had fun or very few frustrations with. (Animals, Building*, Sailing a ship.) I'm still playing it with my spouse and enjoying it for the most part.

* In regards to building, it's not bad, but the textures are moderately offset on one axis, so that rotating a floor piece for example 180 degrees, will cause alignment issues with it's neighbor. Also curved and triangle pieces do not have a mirror option so you will always have that one derp corner.

This is a lovely looking game that I'd would like to love. Right now, it's mostly just an exercise in frustration.
I'm using a controller, which is probably the source of some of the issues. The others playing with me are using keyboard/mouse. They're still experiencing some of these issues, but not all.

Gliding:
It's perfect when using a controller. Don't change a thing. It feels really good and, so far, is the most fun part of the game. For keyboard/mouse, not so much. It's possibly just me, but I can thread a needle with the controller, but with keyboard/mouse... it's a disaster that goes down like a plane without wings.

Island Piloting:
The controller mappings are bonkers for piloting. The keyboard/mouse controls at least make a little sense. I tried to remap the controller, but some options don't seem to be allowed. Please allow us to map the X axis on the left stick to steering left/right. I'm a little confused why this isn't the default. Putting left/right on triggers and up/down on shoulders just makes for seriously confused flying for me personally. I'd prefer left stick Y, as is (speed), left stick X = left/right, and left trigger = down, right trigger = up. I might actually be able to fly this island then.

Combat:
I personally find the combat extremely difficult. Blocking is so slow it its almost impossible to block reactively. I can hold block, but it doesn't actually seem to have much effect; I still take nearly the same amount of damage, I just get don't get knocked back as far. The combat combos are interesting, but I can only perform 2-3 of them, then I'm out of resources. For our multiplayer server, we just end up dying repeatedly while hopefully getting a few strikes in so we can cleanse an island. It's not fun. Maybe we've missed a part of the progression, but we visited all of the islands in the first area before going to the next, and in that second area, we're just getting our asses handed to us.

Crafting:
Crafting/inventory is confusing with all of the different tabs. I struggle to find where things are supposed to be, and where they're supposed to be crafted. I'm constantly trying to craft something in wrong place. We're are also running into recipes we cannot make and we're not sure why. Sometimes there's an ingredient that we've never seen and there's no clue where we're supposed to be looking for it. Is it something we missed? Is it something we're not supposed to have yet? Especially with the wool sails. We have three recipes for different wool sails, but they all take a some kind of cloth (there nothing in the UI that tells me the name), I'm assuming it's some kind of wool cloth. How do you make wool cloth?!? Did we miss something?

Inventory Management:
With a controller, this is clumsy and cumbersome. Many other games have figured this out, please take some notes from the others. With keyboard/mouse, it's just OK, I wouldn't call it smooth.
Controller-wise, could you please move "destroy" from holding down one of the sticks (R3), when holding down the left (L3) is what's used to move items. That's not a good idea. We've already had two stacks of items destroyed in our multiplayer game.

Cleansing Islands (muiltiplayer)
They need to get the multiplayer side of this fixed. Each person on our team has different information for the same island. My Field Guide will say 100%, but the others aren't there. At least for us, it seems to be something with the insects. It's like each of us has to add our own insects to the island to make all of the Field Guides happy. That doesn't make sense.

I really do want to like this game. It looks amazing and we love the style. It's a bit resource intensive for what's there though. I'm hoping there will be some optimization as part of the later development stages.
We are into the story of the game, even if it's a bit thin at this point. I hope this is expanded on. If the game improves, I will change my review, but right now, it'd say, even at the current price, this one needs to cook a bit more, especially if you're doing multiplayer.
