Good game... However, with this new update it basically just turns into a walking simulator (More so than it already was). I spend 60% of my time in game just running the same route back and forth. I accidentally forget something? Run for 15 mins. I accidentally bump a home teleport? Run for 15 mins. I need a plort to open door? Run for 15 mins. My stamina depletes and I slip off the edge? Run for 15 mins. The labyrinth is super far away with what appears to be no good way to get there quickly after discovering it the first time. I understand needing to explore but it gets tiring having to run the same route over and over after having already explored the first time.

Over 2 years later and Slime Rancher 2 still has less than half the content of Slime Rancher 1. No automation, nothing to spend money on, tech is limited, no quests or side zones and less slimes than the first game. SR2 is objectively inferior to the first game even after 2 years of updates, I'm sure that in time it will likely be better than the first game but as it stands just buy SR1 if you think this looks fun.

Currently I could not justify buying this for 10$ more over slime rancher 1, it’s the same exact game with a few new minor changes that don’t really impact the game very differently, there’s no innovation. It’s more of the same at a higher price. It’s not a bad game, but it’s a step down

I played Slime Rancher back in 2017 all the way through and just now got 10 hours into SR2 and I'm losing steam.
It really doesn't feel like a sequel. It's just more of the same on a new map.
If they'd experiment without plots and giving the player free range over how they design their farm, that could be really cool. That would make each farm look unique and managing slimes from interacting with one another would be much more dynamic and would require much more consideration.

Money is really not much of an obstacle, keeping Largos is not punished at all, the thing that's holding me back are JellyStone, Brine and Silky Sand which are just a chore to grind and look for.

The way it is, I just grab 4 new slimes in an area, go to 2 plots on my farm, fully upgrade them with my bijillion moneyz and farm their favorite food and just start feeding them. It just feels really brain dead. What are water canons even for? There's no risk of Tar at all, even if there were, water gun is crazy OP, or just take em and throw em in the ocean. The game is 99% grind.
Story.....? I wouldn't have considered any of this a narrative if I hadn't read through some reddit threads who claim there is one. It's just characters messaging you and giving you advice on the game.
