Slow gameplay tempo
Gameplay tempo is crippling slow even on the fastest setting. Generaly I'm not a fan of fast tempo in city builders, but this one is far too slow. This need fixes in my opinion.

Just to add to this, I'm about 3-4 hours in and finding myself not wanting to play since I know I'll just be waiting. I can't build anything because of income and how expensive everything is, and how little money I earn via taxes. I've found that, especially at the commoner level, everything has such a high upkeep that at best I'm earning 20-40 gold per time period.

So all that means is that when I unlock a new building or want to truly expand I'm just waiting. When it costs 300+ to unlock a new territory or a new building (with most commoner buildings being 200+) it just means I'm waiting for 20+ cycles for that income to roll in so I can build or do anything new. That entire time I can't do anything. All I can do is appreciate and stare at everything, but there is nothing interactive I can do that influences anything meaningful. For example, here are the options while waiting for income:
  • Use my hero explore new places, but I don't have any since I need 300+ gold to unlock new territories
  • Destroy and rebuild things to try to be more optimal. Technically I could do this, but I believe it results in a loss of money/resources to do so? Like you don't get 100% back when destroying
  • Send messengers to other nations. Sure, but that's also just waiting and doesn't result in anything like gifts or resources from them that I can use to help expand/grow

If the core loop past the initial quests, which give you a nice bump in gold/income, is just to wait perpetually until you have enough money to build or expand then there should be something active you can do to make that time feel worthwhile and interesting. For example, more ways to use your hero to interact with the environment, map, or world.

THIS!!!!!! Reason I am waiting to buy. Dev should address this, as sales will lead to more development.

I just downloaded the game and gave up on it after less than an hour. Even the beginning isn't fun. And why can you only assign 1 out of every 2 new arrivals for anything? That makes no sense. I had buildings, but nobody to run them. Then put the game on full speed to get more people and only could assign ONE of the new arrivals.
Then I had to wait again, and again.
Then I had no money, so I had to wait again.
Then I had no people, and had to wait again.
While the game looks cute and promising, it's just not fun. Usually the first hour of games like this is immense fun. I don't want to spend 80% of a game just waiting. For now, I asked Steam for a refund. Probably best to stay away from Early Access games in this genre.

I had immense fun in the first hour, and about 60 hours later, still have fun.

I cannot complain for waiting, coz there is a lot to do.

Tbh. I had money problems too in the beginning, but with every start over, I learned more about it.

You build a homestead - has space for 3 persons.
You get 2 newcomers - one of them is "Head of Household", cares for the garden (food!) and gets food from outside, for the other 2. Thanks to the HoH, ppl do not starve easily.

The other one is for another job somewhere.

Next 2 newcomers - both you can assign to jobs.

So its not true that there is always only one to assign.

I run at 3x speed, but very often I stop it so I can do what I want without haste.
Have fun.

Everything is slow and taxing to build.
