Why is half of this games dialogue memes
Terrible translators trying to be funny I guess? "Galaxy brain", "edge lord", "cringy", comedic dialogue translated over a scene which was obviously meant to be serious etc. It's not even funny it's just annoying

what are you talking about
it's not but it's always really funny when people come at this game and just assume the original Japanese wasn't like this.

If you want to steam point farm honey there are better choices. Metaphor's right over there.

On the off chance that you are not trolling. That's because that's the whole theme of the game. While admittedly the first one did it way better, the game is all about pop culture. You influence others by using memes. There are quests around urban legends and influencers. There's a focus on clothing brands (more so in the first one). The main point of the first game was that the protagonist was a closed off, selfish person, who through the course of the game opened up and learned how to appreciate different people and viewpoints. Hence the title "The world ends with you". If you are closed off, the world appears very small. If you open up, your world expands. Even the underlying plot was about how Shibuya was influencing people so much that things became boring and stagnant. Unfortunately very little of this made it into this sequel.

So in short: these meme dialogs are the translator's attempts to have a western version of Japanese pop culture lingo. I can't comment on how well they did this since I don't know the original Japanese tests.
