This was never the highlight of the series.
I'm 40 hours in, and currently on Wild Island for the story mission. I'm taking my time, exploring everything and enjoying it a great deal.
No ♥♥♥♥ you have no taste
Not playing this until its fixed, no way, Stalker games are too good to be ruined like this.
There's a lot to criticize about the game, from technical issues to A-life being braindead at the moment, but stating that the devs should part with what is essentially the same game structure as the original trilogy is weird. STALKER games have always evolved around going back and forth between points of interest within the map(s).
Similarly, STALKER MP has always been a meme and no one played it seriously.
Glad to see another person take my account 100% serious, and using that instead of actually trying to make a point.
I played a little of one of the Stalker games and don't remember it being this garbage but idk maybe I go back and check. I can't see the other games being remotely this bad, also since their old af they get a pass for a ton of shortcomings of the time (this doesn't).
Having to backtrack all over the maps was, by all accounts, a much more present mechanic in the previous games, notably the first one.
I see that you played roughly 4 hours of Call of Prypiat, meaning that you definitely didn't reach the part where you have to backtrack from the last map to the first one to complete a single story quest. Similarly, since you have not played SoC, you didn't have to deal with the multiple smaller maps that you have to go through for most missions (e.g you can take a "kill X in the Cordon" quest at the Bar map, meaning that you need to go to the Garbage map, only to cross to the Cordon map, do the stuff you're asked to do, cross the Cordon again, cross the Garbage again, reach the Bar to then get paid. Total mission time: 30mn. Total walk time, probably 25m.
Except this isn't a shortcoming. Having to push through the world is a design feature. This is why there's no fast travel available and why guides are expensive and only present at certain key locations. STALKER is a franchise where the journey matters more than the actual quest you're doing, because the Zone you're evolving in is the main selling point and the thing to look for. This is why people are happy to play hundred of pointless fetch quests in Gamma or Anomaly: the topic of the quest actually doesn't matter, it's what you will do on the way and what/who you will encounter that does.
RUSHED?!?!?!
Tf, I wish this was rushed, ten years of walking up, down, left, and right is what the majority of the game is. Also if you like looking at boring ass generic interiors then good on ya, must like paint drying as well at that point cuz that's what majority of the game was.
The people defending this ♥♥♥♥ are the same people who defending garbage ass Dying Light 2. OMG guys the devs said there's 100 hours of content, then you play it and there's not. The only reason the number gets that high is cuz there's a 100 hours of bloat and time wasting.
Wow, angry... Yeah, you rushed it, barely completed any side stuff, let alone explored the entire Zone. If I rushed Skyrim's main quest for instance, I'd say the same thing.
Although, I wouldn't be angry like you.
And if the game is so bad, why would you even play it for that long? Did someone had a knife under your throat?
