The magma boss in hardmode can be impossible...
Honestly getting tired of his healing orbs fulling healing him if one gets across and he doesn't have his poison on him. You can drop him down to like 10% health and a single orb full heals him. I almost think this boss is bugged. Secondly. Parrying him is near impossible. I perfectly time parry against every single mob and boss in this game except this one.

On hard mode, its necessary, but apparently this boss is allowed to just not let you parry. It's like his timing of his bounce changed in terms of the final hit on the ground. Its ridiculous. I've fought this with my friend about 200 times and we just keep dying. I've tried better food, upgrading gear to 19. This boss is literally impossible. If anyone in hardmode has had problems with this boss, please give me input!

This guy is impossible to kill. (btw in hardmode, a fireball 1 shots you, even if you have fully maxed out gear and 1k health, so avoiding and parrying those aren't too difficult)

Just beat him on normal for the first time and realized I could have used poison afterward, so maybe try that and hope he isn't immune

beat him yesterday on hard mode. I spammed galactite chakram and maintained mobility.

Get a bunny that shoots poison with 2-3 poison upgrades, i have a bunny with 2 poison upgrades and 2 atk speed so he poisons him pretty fast, or get a blowpipe. If you have a friend, assign one of you to melee the orbs before they reach it while the other kites the boss. Idk what gear you use, i use stone chest and pants for dmg to bosses and damage reduction from bosses, atlantean worm helm, 2 maxed spine rings + the fighter boss dmg passive and i do 120% boss damge, pearl lantern and morpha's bag for mobility , rift lens for teleport, polished copper cross necklace for crit hit/damage, the poison bunny pet and i kite him with ranged weapons (musket and phantom spark), As long as you don't get 1 shot, it should be fine.

Use Tome of Pestilence, it will summon the plant which will keep him poisoned.
Use Cosmos armor which gives you immunity to burning.
Also larva ring + necklace set gives immunity to slowing down by slime.
After that just run around, use ranged weapons and slowly wear him down.

you could also sit beyond it's aggro area and spam chakram and poison until it dies off screen

Hmm... This kind a playing dirty. Its more of a luring it into a trap to get a lot free damage over times. This usually involve set up booby trap. Usually galaxite trap. Even though boss can unset your trap. But it will give you pretty much a head start.

@st.eyeless you can pretty much make a food that gives immunity to fire and slime if you combine Yellow Blister Head (acid water or clay caves water) and verdant/elder Dragonfish (desert of the beginning water), not worth sacrificing better gear for a bit of time fishing and cooking. I completely forgot about the poison summon , it's probably more efficient than the poison bunny that i use, and he can use a buff pet or a pet that does boss damage to help kill it faster.

parrying aint needed to defeat anything in hardmode.

plus melee weapons that arent stormbringer just ♥♥♥♥ currently as they perform poorly compared to ranged or magic. stormbringer build kills this boss in hardmode and he only gets 1 bounce off before he just dies.

get a better build. seriously. hardmode is all about dps currently.
