Yeah sure, having over 1000 hours between every FF game on Steam makes me not at all an FF fan....
a port is a game or software that is altered to be able to run on another platform e.g taking a playstation game and then the developers making it work on PC. (e.g the original FF7 was ported to pc from playstation)
a remake is taking an existing game, rebuilding it from the ground up with a modern game engine, graphics, voice lines etc. (e.g the new Dead Space title is a remake of the original)
Look up a gameplay video of the PSP release of crisis core and then compare it to a video of someone playing crisis core reunion.
You kiddo try to educate someone else... If you enhance textured, un the budget for polygons and shove it into FF X-2 engine and call it a day, that is a pretty seamless port of a game where existing assets were ported into a new engine with 0 to none adjustments to gameplay what so ever and its pretty much the same thing... Look at what FF7 was and what it is now... That is a remake... Then go and play Crysis core on PSP and then here... Same gameplay... You go in a straight line from point A to point B and have to fight enemies in a weird combat thing that was decent for PSP but in 2023/2024 it is very much an unwanted gameplay/combat mechanic...
So you should learn what a port is... Cuz you can port a PSOne or PSP game to PC via Unreal Engine 5 and it will look different, but its still JUST A DAMN PORT.... You aint remaking anything... If they were to remake Crysis Core, it would be pretty much the same quality and FF7 Remake/Rebirth... This game is worth 5 bucks or less and if you use PSP emulator, you get the same thing but more stable FPS and much nicer graphics (considering that you are smart enough to setup the emulator properly, which you 100% aint).
the definition of the words remake and port doesn't change because you want it to.
FF7RI and Crisis Core Reunion are both remakes. i suggest you actually look at the definitions of 'port' and 'remake'
Remake:
1) The act of remaking.
2) Something in remade form, especially a new version of an earlier movie or song.
3) A new version of something.
4) A new, especially updated, version of a film, video game, etc.
5) Creation that is created again or anew.
Port (software/games):
In software engineering, porting is the process of adapting software for the purpose of achieving some form of execution in a computing environment that is different from the one that a given program (meant for such execution) was originally designed for (e.g., different CPU, operating system, or third party library). The term is also used when software/hardware is changed to make them usable in different environments.
He probably has, and it's not a lucrative job anyway. He's an outsource transient dev that works in some sweatshop in China.
As an executive at one of the largest tech consulting firms in the world, I hire and fire chumps like him every day.
Usually they get 6 months contracts and out the door they go.
