Save Point above Accel Blaster

There is a save point in the same room that Kane's Accel Blaster powerup is, right next to the rupture/portal. But there seems to be no way to get to it. There doesn't seem to be a alternate world map area associated with it either.

I assumed it was an easy way to get back to progression once you have the Accel Blast, but it seems completely inaccessable. Does anybody have an idea?

…I think that’s just for continuity? Maybe? It’s the BMZ1 map ported over. Can’t quite remember.

I know I'm necro'ing here, but the rupture connects to the one at the start of the hallway right before the final boss. It's there so you can backtrack, in case you missed the Accel Blast or want to pick up some Energy Guards for the MA if you choose to fight Jason.
