This game is tricky!!! There are so many changes to how the day unfolds based on the choices you make - and how quickly you make them. I didn't unlock every ending, but this was very easy to replay over and over and over because the story tree for this game is large enough that you'll need several replays (at the very least) to unravel the secrets of all of the passengers.

Game World: Overboard, as you might be able to guess, takes place entirely on a cruise ship in the 1930s. The game itself is a 2D, almost visual novel style, game. You traverse the ship via a side-view cut of the ship. There are only about 8 locations to go to over the course of 8 hours before your ship reaches its destination.
Overall, the game world is fairly sparse, with only 8 locations and about 6 NPCs.

Narrative: The narrative in Overboard occurs during those 8 hours of free time. See, you killed your husband last night in order to claim his life insurance money, and now you have to figure out how to get away with murder.

Length: This is a short game, if you make all of the perfect decisions, which is unlikely, it will take you about 15 minutes to beat. It took me a bit over 2 hours, and 7 tries to finish it with the best ending.

Mechanics: Despite the simplicity of the game world, I felt that the options and freedom of choice in Overboard is very well done. There are so many ways to go about doing things that all-in-all it mostly comes down to time and order that are your biggest threats.
After waking up from murdering your husband, you start to explore the ship and realize that there are many things that are against you. Things like a lost earring need to be accounted for at a very specific time else you will have to figure out how to explain away its presence when the owner wasn’t supposed to be there. Still, there’s enough diabolical ways to influence people, or outright kill them, that you don’t need to deal with every single possible piece of incriminating evidence.
Overall, I was impressed with mechanics, not so much the gameplay mechanics themselves, but more the possibility tree of choices that a player has to affect the story.

Difficulty: I must admit, I was overwhelmed at first, definitely the first 4 or 5 playthroughs I was not feeling the game, but when I got to 6, I was finally able to formulate a plan of attack based on what I knew, and when it worked, it was a great feeling.
So overall, my point is that Overboard can definitely feel difficult at first, but just stick with it.

Quality: While graphically unimpressive, I did like the art style. It's got this kind of oldy cartoon vibe that fits in with the 1930s era. Everything though is fairly simple - UI, graphical options, there’s not much under the hood of this small title.

Performance: No issues with performance and I encountered no bugs.

Sound Effects: Not much here, I didn’t notice a wide array of sound effects. There were a few lines of spoken dialog but not much else.

Music: Music is sparse, but what I did notice fit in with the 1930s theme. This isn’t really a title to play for the audio.

Overboard has a good amount of replay value purely with the number of choices and paths available to the player. Unfortunately, it's not uncommon to blow through 20 or 30% of the paths per playthrough, meaning it's very possible to run out of things to do within a few hours.

Overboard feels almost like a super casual version of Deathloop. While I applaud its creativity, I can’t help but feel that it's as deep as an ocean, but wide as a puddle, meaning that once you get through the spider web of choices and paths, there’s not much else to do. Still, I think Overboard is worth a shot for at the very least a different perspective on your typical murder mystery game.
Due to the price tag of $15 and the play time of ~2 hours, I would recommend you wait until this is on sale.
