Just bought a Quest 2 and link cable and booted up this game again. I saw the same issue you had. A black screen. What fixed it for me is starting Steam VR first then launching the game.
This is a tough one to reproduce for us, we can't make it happen on any of our dev machines (tried different GPUs, a laptop, Windows 10, Windows 11, etc). But if this workaround works for other folks, we'll pin something to the forum at least. Wish we could track down the cause!
Same issue but with WMR Samsung Odyssey+ on the kids' 10700k/1080ti/win11. I don't remember specifically what it was but I couldn't play FP1 either. Starting SteamVR first makes no difference. :(
