Reminds me of the original Digimon World Game.

This game is just like the original psx digimon world but with an actual story to back all the grinding you have to do.
If you liked the mechanics of the original game you will like this one.

Basically you need to enjoy the core gameplay loop of grinding your diigmon, it dies then grind again while doing the story until you get to the point of reducing the grinding atmost to cero and just finishing the story.
