From some gameplay I've seen, there are trap upgrades similar to how they work in Orcs Must Die 2

I don't think I ever reached trap limit, but is there guardian limit?
12 weapons and 6 trinkets sounds less than in OMD2, I also think there was bigger enemy variation than 32
I think that those numbers don't feature the free dlc
Non-canon means that it isn't considered part of the original story. So basically the events in OMD Unchained never took place.
Honestly I'd rather have it this way because I really don't want the game to be unplayable in single player
