The controls are just absurd. All this dev effort should have been spent on any other engine.

One of the best mods, one of the best standalone games. A ton of great conten, justifying why the game has 98% of positive reviews (2024-12-17).

I find some of the secondary quests painfully anti-fun (tiny spoilers):
1. having to ask Liam "what's up" a few times to unlock another ending of a quest even after getting an information about what to ask him about
2. optional Frida's furs package does not contain a very much needed fur, making one of the items unrepairable, because the player sold or used up all of those furs before entering a closed location
3. bugged transformation into a beetle, which is required for some quests. Especially the sequence inside smugglers hideout is too long for such a problematic mechanism.

Even though those three problems hurt my butt, there is a lot of fun inside. All of what you expect from Gothic 1 and 2 plus more new mechanics, a whole new story, more or less obvious references to real/fictional people and a huge feeling of nostalgia for those who did not play Gothic for a long time. I dare to say I had more fun with this one than any Gothic.
