Gothic 1 if Ulu-mulu was a side-quest and backtracking with Uriziel too.

Gothic 1 and 2 are obvious. I think Enderal was a good cummunity game as well.

Thanks for the recommendations, I've played Gothic 2 extensively. Never really got into G1 but I should give it a try.

Enderal has a good reputation too and I havent tried it.

Gothic 1 is more rough and more inforgiving. But at the same time that's the beauty of it. It's hard to love at first. But once you get a little bit strong and become friendly with the controls, it all clicks into place. Besides, it's the only RPG that you can easily play with one hand. It really does allow that)

Gothic 2, Risen 1, hopefully Gothic Remake
Might try Enderal mod on steam. Progression is much more rewarding than Skyrim. Story is good too.

'as good' might be a hard one. But obviously in this family pretty much all games are worth recommending. If you enjoy this format and are looking for more things than the Gothic series (give G3 a chance if you haven't, just stay away from the expansion), Risen 1-3 are the best things to try next, especially 3 imho.

The best thing you can do is trying out new games so you don't look for Open World RPGs all the time.

Dark Souls, Monster Hunter, Resident Evil, Castlevania, Bloodstained, Hollow Knight, Ultrakill, Doom, Quake, Dusk, Signalis, Loop Hero, Tekken, Dead Space, Stronghold, Age of Empires, Titanfall 2, Vampire Survivors, Gloomwood, Amid Evil, Pillars of Eternity, One Step from Eden, Wolfenstein, Devil May Cry, Stardew Valley, Fallout, Prey, Yakuza/Like A Dragon, Half-Life, Black Mesa, Baldur's Gate, Darksiders, Death Stranding, Bioshock, Nier Automata, Portal, SOMA, Tomb Raider, Metal Gear and many more.

I have in fact played and enjoyed G3 when I was a teenager, although as an adult I have a negative review on it here on Steam lmao. It's actually an OK game considering the landscape.

Risen 1 to me was garbage. I am becoming old and hard to please with games I fear.

Good recommendations, some of these were very enjoyable to me, obviously I haven't played them all.
Arx Fatalis - Mostly linear\semi-open world (you can freely traverse all zones, just, generally little reason to backtrack beyond going back to central hub). Spiritual successor to Ultima Underworld 1&2 (was going to be UU3 but failed to get the rights to it).

Caribbean Legend (remaster\continuation of Sea Dogs: To Each His Own) - if you like pirate games. Very 90s \ rough around the edges though. Would wait for 1.3 that's coming on the 11th. The sandbox mode was also released as a stand alone infinite demo (but doesn't recieve updates), that you can dip your toes in.

Kingdom Come: Deliverence - Kind of like an imsim version of Skyrim set in medieval Bohemia (current day Czechia), very limited fantasy aspects (potions and some suggestive supernatural themes in some sidequests, enemies are exclusively human and dogs).
Many ppl say Gothic 1, I have to disagree, G2 is such an improvement over G1 that going from G2 to G1 just sucks, I played G1 after playing G2, it finished it but didn't really enjoy it too much
Archolos surpasses every single Gothic game in most areas, so I'm sorry to say that in the category of 'games like this' you've already played the best one. Check out the other PB games if you're hungry for more is the best I can suggest.
