Fantastic Monster Hunter game with only a few nuisances. Spiribirds become one of those nuisances pretty quickly once you've explored every map, especially during late game when you're grinding research/qurio gear and sometimes spiribird buffs mean the difference between surviving a hit and not. This does mean that a few minutes of every fight will be spent running a sweep across the map to gather the spiribird buffs you need/want, but eventually it becomes routine and doesn't detract from the biggest reason I recommend Rise/Sunbreak over World/Iceborne:
The split between Single Player and Multiplayer has returned. As had been custom since 2004 with Monster Hunter on PS2 all the way through Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate on Nintendo Switch (or MHXX on 3DS), multiplayer is as simple as creating a room and selecting multiplayer quests (which has their own progression that isn't tied to single player progression). If you want to play with others immediately, you can do that! There's no need to wait until forced (and unskippable) cinema scenes play out for every individual person who wants to play together. No more relying on people to have completed their own single player experience up to specific points in order to hunt alongside one another. Monster Hunter World brought Monster Hunter to the masses more than previous titles, yes, but it also brought with it a slew of headaches for those who had played the series since day one, with the biggest headache of all being the confounded single player/multiplayer restrictions and experience. Monster Hunter Rise/Sunbreak luckily returns to the tried and true formula (plus the cinema scenes that do exist can be skipped).

Rise/Sunbreak is a much faster paced game than any previous MH titles, so there is still a learning curve to be had and this faster gameplay can be a detractor for some players. There's no harm in not enjoying it and returning to older titles, but that isn't to say this is a bad game - just not everyone's cup of tea. The reason I'm not judging this title based on it's "fun factor" is because the most important factor is achieved: functional cooperative gameplay without restrictions.
