Haydee 1

haydee 2 is a better entry as it's easier and less janky.

They are two different games.
Haydee 1 is a puzzle platformer with some shooting.
Haydee 2 is a third person shooter with a collect this to unlock that play style.
It is more a question of what style of game do you prefer.

I personally say Haydee 2, but the first game has its perks too!

To be fair, you can buy the second game, and download the mod from the workshop that, as far as i know, remakes the first game in the haydee2 engine.

I know this might be an old topic per say but I want to know too. I have the first game and it's ok at times but infuriating at others. Mainly because of cheap enemy placement and some of the janky jumps not to mention the devs flexing that you get no clues as what to do. I'll tell you that ain't nothing to be proud of as it' comes off as lazy and artificially difficult. I only got far in the first game due to a guide and I am both thankful and sorry for the time those players had to put in to make those guides. Otherwise I'd have dropped the game and deleted it.

The default Haydee 2 map has no jumping, no climbing and no swimming. It is a third person shooter, in a maze with many locked doors and hidden paths. The main game play loop is find an item to unlock a door, with a few other puzzles added in.
Yes it has a few cheep enemy placements still (that includes mines), and still there is no real clues as to where to go.

The rooms them self's have a lot more detail in them this time, and there is a real story and lore behind things as well. (It is written in the many notes that be found.)

On a side note, if you generally like Haydee 1 then there are mods for Haydee 2 which can help. As mentioned above there is a mod which brings Haydee 1 into the Haydee 2 game engine, it improves the textures, and adds a bunch of settings which can be turned on or off.
This helps a lot when it comes to the infuriating parts which you may have encountered in the original.

There is also a second mod which adds settings to the Haydee 2 map. So you can make things as easy or hard as you like.

Ok thanks for all that, good to know. Hopefully if we get a 3rd game the developers will actually focus on making the game better instead of just selling a hot female protag again.

I hate to bother but could anyone point me to those mods please? It'd also be handy for anyone else looking to buy the game and wondering what mods to get. Maybe I should make a topic for must have mods for Haydee 2?

I really love both Haydee games. If we get a Haydee 3 I would like a combination of Haydee 1 and 2. I really missed the swimming and platforming/parkour

Yeah it would be nice for them to combine the best of both and add improvements as well.

If I could just refind motivation. I'm half way through recreating haydee 1 in haydee 2. I wanted to release it as a fully finished project. Including all my source files so others can learn how to use edith looking at the work i've done.

But I sorta have a feeling haydee 3 will come out before i can finish.

Worst comes to worst ill put up my files for what i was able to finish and someone else can pick up the torch. But im really going to try and finish it myself. Just gotta find the time and inspiration.

Suggest you buy Haydee 1. But if you do for either entry, know what you are getting yourself into.

I don't really suggest Haydee 2 since it is quite the mediocre shooter when that is more of the focal point of the second entry.

While there is a mod as well to play H1 in H2, you aren't really playing H1 since it is plagued by a lot of H2's mechanics like sprinting whilst aiming and slasher being an absolute joke of an enemy now. Plus you start off in a literal room with cheats unlike the first that obviously does not include such.

Honest just buy both... Both are great games all honestly.
