I think a countdown or something could be really helpful? Or some on-screen timer to indicate when the timer for the level is actually starting. It appears to start as soon as you hit retry, and it seems like you can't hold down keys in advance, which makes timing awkward when starting a new attempt. I have to hit retry then press shift + w ASAP, and my reaction time doing that matters a lot to levels where the timing is very tight. If I'm wrong about how the timing works, I think an onscreen timer could...
