Hackers can force close your game!
I kept dying to a hacker, he was aimbotting, and had god mode, no matter how many times I shot him he would not die... so I simply said ♥♥♥♥ this, jumped on the passing train, and just as I thought I was getting away my game was force closed to desktop.

So let me get this right? you fight you die, you run your game closes? Sounds awesome!

No other people have stated they been crashing mysteriously soon as their about to complete an open world mission, its clear hackers now can force your game to shut down when they want to stop you.

No it is not clear. Because people get random crash doesn't mean a mysterious force at play is behind it. Please review the numerous thread you can see in STEAM and the article I sent you for a more logical technical issue....

Just to add to my comments.

This game uses P2P. P2P isn't dangerous. It is used in many other games very safely.

P2P broadcast your IP to the host and other clients.

you cannot really use IP to identify someone anymore.

(now if you IP gives them access to your routeur because you have a weak password and allow management from outside home network, they will access to your computer and routeur. then you have a serious security issue and you should start to invest in a proper firewall or online security solution. That is really not about the game here but about how serious you are with your own security)

Going back on the topic : The only thing that could happen is that they start to DDos you.. but if it was the case you will not only get problem with the game byt you will not even be able to reach out anything on Internet. Your routeur will just be struggling. ddos is what it is : denial of service. Over stuffing your routeur with zillions of ping request that it become too busy to do anything else.

Usually even as per today standard a lot of home routeur are protected against this to a certain extend. One small hacker with his only computer as the point of attach will not be able to take your internet down. Massive DDos you heard about in the news that takes corporate sites downs takes thousands of machines up front to achieve such result.

If you want to play on a safe environement chech RedM made by the CitizenFX collective. https://redm.gg/

It is a bit Role play but there are more choices coming up lately .

If you really want to be "protected on your privacy" then start using VPN

It’s hard to tell if a cheaters responsible for the game crashing, or if the game just crashed.

However, I wouldn’t surprise me if certain mod-menus could crash the game. All a cheater would have to do is spawn in a zillion game assets and that would crash the session pretty quickly. :P

Don’t play RDO on PC, it’s an awful experience. :(

If you have a newer PlaySation or Xbox Red Dead Online is MUCH better on console; you don’t have to worry about cheaters. :/

they actually can. I have seen it done many times. A friend of mine ran into some cheaters. They took a shine to her and harassed her beyond belief. They managed to follow her to other servers. Kicked her from the game. They obtained her IP address and managed to access her email. When they accessed her email, they accessed her steam and locked her out of her steam account. She managed to get her email and steam accounts back after a bit of a fight. Steam say they have no evidence that it was comprised, Rockstar said there was no evidence it was compromised. Yet google confirmed that the email was compromised and you can subsequently see the emails accessing Steam straight after, changing email address. Then changing the Rockstar account etc.... RDO on PC is a nightmare.

Just here to confirm yes it is hackers if you crash directly to desktop with no error message. Guide I found on another forum to avoid players like this if it's a constant issue https://youtu.be/OFd2af8wINE
