2023 and we still don't have a dating game with female protagonist and a yuri relationship!
I mean come on, I know we all love lesbian relationships. Who doesn't love seeing 2 beautiful girls holding hands and dating, 18+ patches will sell like hotcakes. Instead, we just have another dating game with a boring male main character...

Who cares about lesbian stuff? I only approve when two muscular men in leather suits wrestle in the locker room showing who's the boss of the gym.

Man, it would be really good for the diversity of the scene if there was a training type dating sim where you could train yourself to be the perfect barbarian hero, wrestling and dominating other barbarian men, aiming to become the top muscle-bound warrior on top of the rest, both figuratively and sexually.

I meant the above seriously, Bara Fans need to have something for themselves, but I also would enjoy seeing more yuri.

But the fact is it's a niche, and most female-aimed products and media tend to be shafted or cynically produced cash grabs. The indie scene has helped but the issue is there really is just not much money to be made there and not as large of an audience in general.

-_-
I think the problem is that this is somewhat a niche genre. This game did good, but it's not a super hit. Making a game about lesbian relationships would be a niche in a niche genre. Just not a good business decision. Very very risky.
I don't have anything against it in principle, but it may be a tough sell on Steam. With people running around and screaming about wokeness and all.
So yeah, it just comes down to risk vs reward.

Don't get me wrong, I mean implementing an option to choose gender and date both men and women in a game should be easy enough. It doesn't need to be a yuri game only. This is why people create mods for Persona 5 to play as a female protagonist.
The stuff you're looking for exists already but they're in the realm of patreon indi projects that are glacially slow or get abandoned 3 months in.

Literally only a few line of code and a different female model will do the things but somehow they always do this ffs

"Wokeness" isn't the issue, I feel. There's a lot of explicitly Yuri content that sells here on Steam and sells regularly, but the problem is, as you said, it's a niche within a niche. They have to pay to get the game on Steam, publishers generally don't like taking risks with niche in niche titles, it's a hard sell and devs need to eat.

Like many things, less an issue of "culture wars" and more "business incentives" than anything else.

I enjoy both. even the sex is pretty wholesome to me. But the adult patch can be optional. But for real though, I don't know what is keeping the dev from adding another female model, maybe the cutscenes and the arts are too much but at least we can have a somewhat yuri relationship. I don't think mainstream series like Persona have the ball to do this, which is why I have been waiting for an indie dev to do it, but I still have to keep waiting...

Girl x Girl is niche?
Look up the otome genre, you just are not looking hard enough.

Compared to the numbers and the performance of series like BL and straight romance, yes. It's dwarfed by huge margins and therefore most publishers and companies tend not to want to sell to it because they could be focusing on other things.

They are there, but I think they want something closer to a Persona with lesbian relationships, or a hack and slash like this with dating sim elements. I want to fight with my girlfriends and save the world together, and I find pure visual novels not that inetresting.

I know about it, but it's Visual Novel games. While it's not bad, what I want is something like Persona-style dating mechanics and gameplay but with female MC instead. But thanks for the suggestion man.

Yeah you get it man, I have nothing against VNs but I prefer the Persona style. Which is a shame because Sega will never allow people to play as FMC, and indie devs are missing on a huge goldmine.
