it keeps telling me pick up a purple flower, which I did, and I use Q to show the way it keeps telling me to go back to the story where they leave bright and early, I have heard it over 5 times, its like its stuck in a loop

I have heard the purple flower section 10 times, i picked up a purple flower it told me to drop it near the stones which I did, its still not working. I press Q it directs me back to the purple flower story again...WHY!
