Well knife still makes sound on impact. It's quiet but in certain conditions enemies can hear it still.

But yeah, I agree. More tuning needed for sure.

Yeah a knife threw is not count as silent in the game, I found out the enemies count it the same way as gun shoot.

It is counted as a silent weapon... the developers even stated that in the 5.0 update

(bumped instead of new topic)

I'm hoping this can be fixed. Kills from a knife toss or stabbing an enemy in the back (ambush) are typically treated as silent kills in many games so this should be adjusted if possible.

I think the issue is that because the knife "bounces" off an enemy if it kills them, it makes a sound when it falls. If you're too close to other enemies, they treat it as you making noise, therefore giving you away. However, if you use it with an isolated enemy that's behind closed doors or at least far enough away from other enemies, they won't hear it.

So is this something that's hardcoded into the game then? I'm not to tech savvy with how mods and game engines work so I'm truly curious and don't intend to sound whiny. I think I just messed myself up when I confused knife throwing in the newer Wolfenstein games with this RTCW based mod. :steamfacepalm:

Correct. Knife throws don't exist in the vanilla version, so an object falling down, even a knife in this case, gets registered as the equivalent of a chair being thrown or you knifing the wall. You can do it in isolation, and you won't be heard, but near other enemies, you may as well have fired your gun.

Oh that's right, I hadn't thought about the noise a throw a chair causes. In a way the game just sees a thrown knife as a chair that has been reskinned as a knife. I think I get it now!
