The game has is unplayable due to a bug in the very first tutorial battle. The game zooms in on a corner of the map with three characters on it. No button does anything except for the right trigger, which switches the zoomed in view to a different corner of the map with no characters on it. That's the only thing that happens. There are no instructions on the screen, nothing. There isn't even button mapping in the menu.

I reloaded the game and started a new game multiple times but it never gets past this point. The game cannot be played at all, and since I bought it a while ago but I'm just now getting around to playing it, I'm not eligible for a refund even though I've only spent 21 minutes in the game and all of it just trying to get it to work. I've been ripped off.

A Fire Emblem clone (in a good way). Characters are all enjoyable and decently fleshed out through bonds.

Story does feel a bit rushed, but that doesn't hamper it a lot. It does kind of go back and forth with storylines in some parts. Controls are more responsive w/ a controller as opposed to a keyboard and mouse.

Still a wonderful game. Can't wait for the sequal.

Dark Deity is a 7/10 game. Its a great good for those who enjoy either turn-based rpgs or are fans of the Fire Emblem Series.

What holds it back from being any higher than a 7/10?

1. Minor visual bugs/map bugs: Now these aren't game breaking or will make you rage at the game but they can be annoying, the map bug in particular, but again not game breaking and easily looked over.

2. Enemy balance: Now at first the game is more or less fine but then around midway in the game the enemy strength just skyrockets and never stops going up. This is a combination between just ridiculous hp gains on mage type enemies and mag/str/crit/hit/dodge stats on all enemies just being ridiculously high. And when I say high, I mean there's healer types with over 100hp and the only character that I had with over 100hp was the main character and that's only because of a hp boost passive that one of his classes can give.

3.Bosses: Now when I say bosses I really only mean 2 in particular, a boss a few chapters before the final boss and the final boss. For the first boss, the fight in itself is cool/interesting yet its "ruined" because the boss is able to snipe ANY character on the map from ANY distance for massive damage. I got lucky on my run because he only manage to do this 4 times before I won and 2 of those times he targeted the same character who dodge it easily, the 3rd time he one shot a mage character (yeah for some reason mage characters in this game have low mag def but can high ridiculous phys def lol.) and the final time he targeted a character who has probably the highest dodge in the game so it was easily avoided.
Now for the final boss, this adds to my 2nd point about ridiculous stats, now the fight in itself wasn't terrible, it had some neat mechanics, the problem was the boss itself. On top of them having both a high hit chance and crit chance, they did crazy damage even to characters with high mag def, to the point where I only had 3 characters who could attack him without dying even if he crit and only 1 of which could last 3 turns before needing to be healed if he was crit (Irving MVP tank).

4. Weapon/Armor Triangle: Its not really a triangle but you get the point lol. Now the triangle isn't bad, but you REALLY have to use it. In most games with a triangle, you really only have to use it til about...halfway through the game and then it becomes only needed for most bosses and watching out for class specific damage weapons like Ridersbane/Armorslayer and such. But in this game, it's pretty much make or break, if you try and attack someone in plate with fire/lightning you will either do 0dmg or 4dmg but if you use Arcane or Crushing you'll basically delete them and same applies to the enemy.

5. This last one is just a personal issue and it has to do with the bond menu, not the system just the menu. Navigating it on kb&m is annoying. It would be nice to be able to change keybinds. That's all.

Overall-7/10

Story- 8/10 (not mind blowing but better than most stories in this genre and a few surprising twists.)
Gameplay- 8/10
Combat- 7/10 (except a few characters like Irving who is a 10/10)
Artstyle- 9/10 (really fell in love with certain characters based on art alone, Aurima/Bianca/Brooke/Liberty to name a few and a few of the npcs who we sadly could not recruit...oh Irene <3.)
Music- 6/10 (not terrible but nothing with a WOW factor)
Map Design- 7/10 (most were pretty interesting concepts but a few didn't feel thought out properly)

In closing, I would definitely recommend this game to other people even if you aren't a fan of the Fire Emblem series but enjoy turn-based genre. I don't remember its base price but its definitely worth buying full price in my opinion.

(I didn't play the dlc, as once I found out I couldn't pick and choose who wore the alt outfits I lost interest in it lol.)
