The team is aware of the issues the players are experiencing with the combat and are discussing potential fixes. But a combat update will take a little bit longer than one week to properly test and implement as we need to make sure nothing in the mechanics will break due to changes in the combat system.
Cheers!
Also yeah A toggle for gamepad UI's like PS/Xbox/Switch would be great also, I have zero muscle memory or knowledge of the Xbox layout and I hate how it's always the default for whatever reason.
Thats too rare these days.
My only downside from getting this already is obviously, as others have pointed out the lack of depth in the combat system. Even though it is a hack and slash side scroll game, I would love to see some Sekiro style difficulty added in there as an option. Giving the game more replayabilty, than a one time run and done, as some have being saying. It's already and can have more great potential in future.
Since it sounds like you're part of the team, I would like to report one bug I encountered.
I played the game until I reached (I believe) the final chapter where the protagonist came back to reality to face the final boss. However, much to my dismay, all the upgrades seem to have been lost (e.g., health and stamina bars reset when visiting the nearest shrine; character no longer able to flip direction during the fight, etc.). Strangely, if I press UP with my D-Pad, the game still shows icons of all the upgrades (move sets) I've previously attained. Reloading the save game doesn't remedy the problem, BTW. Facing with this bug, of course, means that I was unable to proceed, since I can only kill opponents in one direction while getting my back hacked away.
I'm curious (and I'm sure the devs are too) to know what issues you're having specifically. I had no problem at all with the combat in my playthrough.
I don't think it's an issue, to be honest. Yes, there are many moves and techniques, but there is no need to use them all right away, like in real martial art. You can focus on some or study others in a second time and high amount is not an issue. I would leave it like it is, not to ruin what is very good already, trying to make it "better".
"Better is the enemy of good, often"
To me, instead, the techniques explanations are not quite clear. I don't know how to counterattack after parry. Same button? Attack button? Timing? IDK, hope will grow and learn in the end. There will be more fun, when I will play it again and again and again...
