Shader Compilation Stutter Progress?
Game is very cinematic and storybased, yet on first run it stutters like crazy, even on console you can see frametime spiking like crazy in some areas. Any progress on patches fixing the framepacing mess? By the way, once shaders are compiled, on the second run of the game, it´s smooth but thats not the purpose of a one time playthrough style game with cinematic focus. Imagine seven samurai having to be watched first with bad camera stutter, and on second viewing its smooth. Unreal Engine was the wrong choice for this. Devs need to be made aware of #stutterstruggle

Super late, but I just happened to buy this game. There's a way to fix it.
Navigate to %LOCALAPPDATA%\Ronin\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor\ and edit the Engine.ini file. Add this at the bottom:

[SystemSettings]
r.CreateShadersOnLoad=1

save the file, and now shaders will be generated on loading screens. Note: this only works in DX11 mode and works in various Unreal Engine 4 games.

NO WAY. I GOTTA TRY THIS. Pls send this to Alex Battaglia at Digital Foundry so he makes a video. Barely anyone, if what you say is true, knows that this option exists.

Update: OMG IT WORKED in ready or not. no more stupid shjader comp stutters, buttersmooth now! AMAZING! why are these UE4 devs so stupid and dont do this as a standard!?

Glad it worked for you 🙂. I've used it for so many unreal 4 games and I'm surprised it's not more widely known. The lame part is it doesn't work when unreal is running in dx12 mode. Thankfully it's easy to force dx11 with a launch command, but you'll miss out on any dx12 features unless the devs actually change code to generate shaders elsewhere.

I've tagged him a few times and posted on videos but it's pretty hard to get noticed as you can imagine haha. So I just humbly buy unreal games, test the setting, and browse the discussions for anyone needing this tweak. It works in Kena, Daemon X Machina, It Takes Two, Hot Wheels Unleashed with forced DX11, etc.

I was able to test manipulation by completely uninstalling/installing the game and it works !!

Thanks a lot johnpinky7 :)
They could fix that via a patch, a simple line in an .ini file...

Hi! I've Trek to Yomi on PC GamePass and sadly the game is DX12 there... can you explain me how to successfully force the game in DX11? Thank you <3

Sorry, since gamepass doesn't allow you access to the .exe, it's not possible to force dx11.

not to be that sorta guy but.... thats exactly why gabe newell said: in order to defeat "xxxxxxx" your service gotta be better. and well, unless you wanna pay for the steam copy.....
:steamthumbsup: i personally dont care, the devs know about this issue and don´t wanna fix it, so.... up to you what you wanna do but the gamepass version is unplayable.

You CAN access the .exe on GamePass tho, that's a thing since some months a this point.
Please explain me how to do it and I'll try it, thank you :)

Ah DX11 -- that's why it didn't work on another game I tried recently.
