Linux / Wine / Proton
Anyone had any luck running this via Proton or Wine? I've been trying to run it, but no matter what I do it crashes on start. I've tried disabling ESYNC and using the widescreen mod fix, but nothing seems to work. Any ideas?

I know it should run since there are old reports of it running in Wine, and all other graviteam games run, so I'm hopping this will run as well.

Did anyone have luck with the Japanese Community MOD? I haven't brought the game.

Yes, but not through Steam. I used a disk copy and installed via Wine (I recommend Lutris) and it's been great. Loads way faster than my Windows copy and runs with no issues in the right resolution... at this point Linux has better legacy Windows support than Windows.

No issues installing STA either. I haven't bothered with the Japanese mod yet.
(replying to get updates for this topic) could you go into more detail about how you did the install through the disk copy and why it wont run through steam if possible
update came to tinker round with it again was able to load into a mission via steam version with sta 3.4 mod using the starter and loading into the game using the SF_kharkov option however only once and could not repeat the steps and was able to load into the main menu however ran into an issue either with scaling or something else was not able to click any menu options

the main issue is the starter and shell getting errors on startup via wine even with 4gb patch (was using latest ver of wine with 32 bit support) my guess is if someone solved this then getting the rest of the game to work out the box with wine would be fairly easy and pain free when it comes to modding the game aswell im sure if someone spent more time on it they could solve this issue however im not that technical inclined and have the benefit of VMware and duel-boot to run games that refuse to work on Linux
