Angler strategies
So.. I fought the Vampire Underboss version of these, and barely survived. I ran across another in the wild and it absolutely destroyed me. I have no idea how to counter these; once they grab you it seems you're completely locked in and the damage they do is A Lot.

I'm guessing in multiplayer I'd have a lot more options, but when playing solo, what's the deal? If I see them first I'm guessing probably stake launcher to take out quickly but is there anything else I'm missing?

Currently mostly playing Remi.

How to counter the angler, watch for the animation wind up of the tether move and then move slightly to the left or the right. If it misses, it's stunned in disbelief for a few seconds, giving ample time to blast with an AR, stake gun etc.

You can dodge the grab or use the cover in the scenario like trees...or shotgun it in the face when it grabs you, with luck it will stagger it out of the grab.

On their twitter they show a player forcing the angler to disengage while being dragged. It looks like they shoot at it but i haven't managed yet.

Whatever it was that used to work, it doesn't work anymore. Once that hell's excrement that is the angler latches onto your character, you're just going to be mightily annoyed while 10-15 seconds of your life slowly burn away. Then your character will generally die, but it's possible you'll have a sliver of life left. Which will be gone momentarily.

The angler, by itself, makes this game a garbage waste of time. On the plus side, now is a wonderful time to clean house or learn Spanish.

Good if you happen to see it first. Or you could just tickle it with a stake gun. But I believe the OP was also concerned with the large percentage of the time when you find out about the angler by having your intestines sucked out through your nose.

timing a shotgun blast when they grab you has a chance to stagger them other than that laylas umbrella can block her hook and jacobs cloak puts enemies in a confused animation that should cancel the charge up
