Hey gang,

PATCH V1.0.11 for UNBEATABLE [white label] is live, and with it, the return of two fan-favorite tracks from our collaboration with Anarch Entertainment's NOISZ STΔRLIVHT. "True" (by Synthion ft. STΔRLIVHT) and "Done In Love" (by Iris ft. STΔRLIVHT) are now back in the game for the foreseeable future (and will arrive in the final game as a part of the base song list).

The songs return with new, updated charts. (plus a little surprise!)

• [UNBEATABLE X NOISZ SL] Both True and Done In Love have returned to UNBEATABLE [white label] with revised charts! True receives all new charts, while Done In Love receives reworked charts and a brand new STAR (OVERLOAD) chart.
  
• [CHARTS] Updated ratings to both True and Done In Love.
  
• [QOL] Mouse input added to menu navigation for the game.
  
• [QOL] Updated Interact bubbles in dialogue to be more context-specific.
  
• [BUGS] Fixed a broken pattern in PROPER RHYTHM - MUST DIE! Remix [MUST DIE].
  
• [MISC.] Added minor camera tilt control when exploring environments.

Surprise! The UNBEATABLE '23 has just wrapped, and with it, a brand new update announcement! Let's cut to the chase.

Congrats to Stellaris for continuing their reign as the UNBEATABLE [white label] champion! Our final standings can be shown in the picture above. Those who are eligible to receive prizes will be messaged shortly following to the event. Thank you so much to everyone who tuned in! We will look into preserving a VOD at a later date and drop the link here.

Revealed at The UNBEATABLE '23, we're reviving our collaboration with Anarch Entertainment's NOISZ series, bringing the UNBEATABLE X NOISZ STΔRLIVHT crossover back to [white label]! The update, releasing next Tuesday (November 21st), comes with brand new, revised charts for both Synthion's "True" and Iris' "Done In Love".

Also - the songs will remain in UNBEATABLE [white label] for the foreseeable future, and arrive in the final, full game as a part of the base song list!

Mirror, from the UNBEATABLE soundtrack, will also be re-released in NOISZ STARLIVHT as a free, unlockable song beginning November 19th! V-IGNITION for the BEATDOWN style, featuring updated artwork by UNBEATABLE co-director Andrew Tsai, has also been unlocked.

We're excited to announce the dates for THE UNBEATABLE '23, the yearly fan event for UNBEATABLE! Join us on November 18th for a celebration made for the community, by the community! Here's a breakdown of what to expect:

We'll be streaming the main event, our yearly-run tournament, with the finalists competing to take this year's crown for the world's UNBEATABLE [white label] champion! The lead commentator for the event will be Jeffrey ("CHI XU"), the producer for the game.

The tournament starts November 18th @ 8 PM ET, and will be streamed on D-CELL GAMES' official Twitch (http://twitch.tv/dcell_official). See bob 859, c2ph, clink35, doubleyou, novalis, Rose, Shawn, and our defending champion Stellaris duke it out in one night! Like last year, there'll be no major announcements during the stream.

With our qualifiers now closing, we've updated UNBEATABLE [white label] to remove the temporarily-available tournament circuit. To those who participated, I'm so impressed I could cry! Thank you very much for your best plays!

We'll be tallying the final results shortly and announcing the top 7 that will be competing against reigning champion Stellaris in our now-yearly UNBEATABLE [white label] tournament, The UNBEATABLE '23!

We're deploying a new patch to address feedback with several of the changes we made with V1.0.10!

• [RHYTHM] You can now toggle the black BG bars, reticle, and camera type (automatic/zoom out immediate). You'll find these in the main menu's OPTIONS page.
  
• [CHARTS] Made adjustments to WAITING (all charts), FAMILIAR (all charts), Proper Rhythm - MUST DIE! Remix (MUST DIE!), Empty Diary - SoundCirclet Remix (Dante's Inferno) and ??? that restores "immediate" camera behavior for some patterns if playing with your camera side-swap type as "automatic".
  
• [BUG FIXES] Fixed a issue that occurred with the Tourney qualifiers if the player attempted to quit out and change their offset in the middle of a run.
  
• [BUG FIXES] Fixed Forever When's metadata (level difficulties / names) being incorrect.
  
• [BUG FIXES] Minor fix to a metadata-related issue in the game's pause menu.

Hey gang,

Today marks the 2nd-year anniversary of UNBEATABLE [white label]! We thought we’d give a few surprises to celebrate the occasion while the team’s been hard at work on the full game, including the release of PATCH V1.0.10, the start of The UNBEATABLE ‘23 season, a progress update on the final game, and more!

All of our levels, known by the community as charts or beatmaps, are getting a major refresh in UNBEATABLE [white label]’s newest patch, arriving today! Over the course of the past few months, we’ve been overhauling all of our levels to match the quality of the stuff we’re doing for the final game, and as a part of the [white label] 2nd Year Anniversary, we’re updating [white label] to include these revised charts!

These charts were edited with the help of our current charting team lineup: CHI XU (Jeff), TaroNuke and Cheryl Stelli, giving more variety to each track!

It’s more than just reworked levels too - this comes with re-balanced difficulty ratings and a renaming of our current lineup of difficulties to similarly match with the changes we’re making to the final game.

Here’s a handy reference on difficulty name changes:

• Beginner → Beginner (no change!)
  
• Easy → Normal
  
• Normal → Hard
  
• Hard → Expert
  
• UNBEATABLE → UNBEATABLE (no change!)

For those comfortable with the game’s toughest levels, you’ll primarily notice fixes and minor adjustments here-and-there, but for everyone else, you should expect a more forgiving entry-level difficulty curve, as well as a substantial uplift to the quality of those charts. To see all current difficulty ratings and the current tracklist, see the chart below:

We’ll be monitoring feedback on the revised charts, so if you have thoughts on them, feel free to leave them in the Steam forums or the UNBEATABLE feedback channel in our Discord[discord.gg], as well as the Steam forums for [white label]!

TaroNuke’s first STAR-chart releases today in the [white label] V1.0.10 patch! Introducing “NUKLEAR”, the alternate Lv. 18 for WAITING - LUMENA-TAN REMIX! Here’s a comment from TaroNuke on the design behind this chart:


In addition, we brought [white label] up to parity with our most recent changes with the main game, which includes several tweaks and improvements to the main rhythm gameplay. Let us know what you think!

Important PSA: Story progress (but not game settings / high scores) will be reset in the new patch, as a result of internal changes to our saving mechanisms.

Our now-annual event, THE UNBEATABLE, returns with THE UNBEATABLE ‘23, featuring a community-focused fanart event and competitive tournament featuring the world’s most UNBEATABLE players!


That’s right! We’re bringing our [white label] tournament back, time kicking it off with a qualifiers set (available to play in the V1.0.10 tourney mode), consisting of the following tracks:

• Waiting - Lumena-Tan Remix (NUKLEAR)
  
• Empty Diary - SoundCirclet Remix (Dante's Inferno)
  
• Forever Now - DOG_NOISE Remix (SubWOOFer)

To participate, join the Discord[discord.gg], check announcements, and bust out your video recording software. Follow the instructions in the event channels to learn how to submit your qualifying scores!

The top 7 players will qualify to partake in the event, hosted live on D-CELL’s official Twitch! Last year was handled as a Invitational, but this time, most of the participants will be joining through this qualifier, with Stellaris defending their title!

THE UNBEATABLE ‘23 will air later in the Summer, with the final date to be announced shortly after the Qualifiers wrap. We’ll be sharing more details on the event (prizes, side events, commentators, etc.) in the coming weeks, so keep an eye here if you’re interested in participating in the festivities!


Want your art featured during The UNBEATABLE ‘23 livestream, as well as our social media? We’ll be opening up THE UNBEATABLE ‘23 ART SHOW, hosted on the Discord-Cell Games server’s “horse-museum-3” channel.

Last year, we had the theme of “Competition”, but this year, our theme is “SUMMER”! Whatever it be the beach boardwalk, the starry nights, or the comfort of box fans, we want to see submissions that best capture the feeling of the warmest season of the year! To participate, all you have to do is submit your creations, whatever it be 2D / 3D artwork, animation, or more!

Submissions will be open from now until June 9nd. Full rules are present here, as well as the Discord (where submissions will be handled!). Once submissions close, voting will be open from June 9nd-June 23rd, where the community will be able to vote for their favorite pieces. The studio at D-CELL will also vote for their top pick too, and both picks will be prominently featured as the main event artwork for The UNBEATABLE ‘23’s competitive event!

Long-requested by many, we’re releasing official guitar tabs of several of the game’s tracks, written by peak divide’s Clara! Tabs are made for EMPTY DIARY, FAMILIAR, PROPER RHYTHM, and WAITING! We’re adding these to our new "EXTRAS" page on our website, which you can see here[www.unbeatablegame.com]!

We'll also be bringing the tabs to other places (i.e. sites like Ultimate Guitar Tabs) sometime soon.

• [RHYTHM] Difficulty names are now changed. Going forward, we will refer to difficulties using the revised names. You can see the old → new names here:

• [RHYTHM] Camera has been adjusted to give anticipatory zoom-outs during camera changes. Changes affect the "Reduce Camera Motion" option too, with its own set of tweaks. Reticle added to prevent motion sickness.
  
• [RHYTHM] Measure lines are added and can be toggled on and off in the game's options.
  
• [RHYTHM] Black bar lanes are now included to help better distinguish up and down lanes.

[white label] PATCH V1.0.9 is here! End the year right with a special remix of peak divide’s WAITING from LUMENA-TAN (with another free song, a original track, to be released in early 2023!).

• [NEW SONG] WAITING - LUMENA-TAN’S REMIX, one of the two new tracks we’re adding to [white label], is available now! (BEGINNER / EASY charts by CHI XU, NORMAL chart by TaroNuke, HARD / UNBEATABLE charts by Cheryl Stelli)
  
• [RHYTHM] Our first pass of UNBEATABLE’s difficulty rating system is here! You can see the level of each song next to its difficulty in the song select. Ratings here are not final and subject to change. You can see a spreadsheet of all the ratings here[dcellgames.notion.site] (as well as a credits list for every beatmap in the game).
  
• [RHYTHM] The offset wizard currently gives results based on visual latency, but not audio latency. For the time being, the wizard has adjusted text / UI elements to reflect this, and a offset wizard for audio latency will be implemented at a later date.
  
• [RHYTHM] Removal of the licensed NOISZ SL tracks, Iris’ Done In Love and Synthion’s True. We are grateful to the NOISZ SL team for letting us include these songs in the game since the launch of [white label]!
  
• [QOL] Game lighting and shading work (including dynamic rim-lighting and a swap to deferred rendering) has been updated to improve the game’s aesthetic, matching the work we’ve done on the main game over the past few months!
  
• [QOL] Removal of the useless Save button in the pause menu. It really didn't do anything!
  
• [MISC.] References to the now-discontinued SLACKER BACKER campaign have been removed. Thank you to everyone who’ve supported the game since our KS launch in 2021!
