Task Force Resurrection
New thread to track the issue reported here (and by others in the past):

Issue appears to be that sinking an entire enemy task force replaces it back on the map (or it failed to be processed post combat and was not removed from the map).

Initially we put this down to a similar nearby task force and have been keeping an eye on the issue but it keeps getting reported.

If anyone encounters this issue or suspects it has happened, please immediately email us the contents of output_log.txt as per these instructions:

It has only happened once to me on my end. I don't expect to be at the computer that can (comfortably) run this game until next week Thursday. In my case it definitely wasn't a similar nearby task force, the fleet resurrected with the same damage state, vehicles, and positions that the destroyed fleet had at the beginning of that battle it was destroyed in (two destroyers, one listing heavily to port and the other with almost no visible damage except a little at the front). Might be difficult to provide the file, as I continued playing afterwards considering a solution seems a ways off.

If it happens again I will immediately acquire and send the file.

is this fixed - (or thought to be fixed) as this has happened to me in my campaign. All of my task forces appear to be duplicating. My (same) Gridley got bombed and torpedoed in 2 different encounters.

not sure if my actual problems matches the topic of this thread .... right now i'm encountering over 20 Task Forces rolling down to me .... there are 2 stacks of 5 TFs close together with different compositions each stack, and behind them there are 12 more TFs popping up on the route of my scout and all 12 have the same but a different third composition - i'm playing WotS right now with TTE and several submods so if needed i can send whatever you need with mail

This usually happens when you save a game while you are in Tactical mod.

It's returning to a game saved in tactical, not the saving, that causes the problem, right? I save in tactical all the time, but never load a game saved in tactical*, and I haven't experienced TF resurection.

*It's a habit I developed when the game kept crashing when going back to strategic after battle (computer memory problem, not the game), and if I returned to the last save, things would be messed up on the strategic map; so I save often so I can return to the next-to-the-last save without losing too much time.

Yep, you are correct.. If you save a game while you are in Tactical, and have to leave or something else. And then reload the Saved Tactical episode, you run the risk of Shadow Fleets. It happened to me one time when I first started playing the game. Not only did I have the same enemy fleet to contend with, I experienced double fleets of my ships that I used in the battle. Very aggravating to say the least. Good thing I had a save game from earlier that I could fall back on, otherwise I would have to start over.

ive had to sink like 20 merchant fleets in a row, pacific mod, it's like a never ending wave of one ms one ao, i guess this is the issue? any fix?

No that's about normal. You will get one, two, or three merchant ships roaming around the map. As well as the same number of destroyer groupings. TTE, or the Pacific mod.

No that's about normal. You will get one, two, or three merchant ships roaming around the map. As well as the same number of destroyer groupings. TTE, or the Pacific mod.

nah man, ive sank like 40 merchants in a row, back to back, all re appearing in similar location within a few seconds of resuming time, I'm pretty sure it's broken at this point!

Nope, try the Pacific Mod and get whacked with 25 in a row at various locations.

yeah thats what i was playing. If its intended then its pretty stupid, and very boring!
