Save File Locations
PC (requires view hidden files):
C:\Users\username\AppData\LocalLow\Killerfish Games\War on the Sea\save

Mac:
Library/Application Support/unity.Killerfish Games.War on the Sea

The save folder has 3 subfolders:
campaign - campaign game saves, including saves made in combat
combat - Single Battle or Custom Battle saved during combat
custom - mission scenarios saved in the Custom Battle editor

In addition the default folder which contains all modding/editable content can be found at:
C:\Steam\steamapps\common\War on the Sea\WarOnTheSea_Data\StreamingAssets\default

Crash on Start
Once you have verified that the installation is intact and correct:

Disable Movie Playback
Seems to effect Windows 7 users only.
Open file "C:\Steam\steamapps\common\War on the Sea\WarOnTheSea_Data\StreamingAssets\default\config.txt" and change "showMovies":true" to "showMovies":false".
Restart the game.
A new update may revert this, so if a patch comes out and game starts locking up on start again, repeat this.

By default moves are disabled on Windows 7: "showWin7Movies":false
If you wish to attempt to play movies on Windows 7 edit it to: "showWin7Movies":true

Citrix
Citrix has been known to clash with some Unity games causing a crash on startup.

Nahimic Audio Drivers
Nahimic audio drivers may cause the game to not load when running from the Steam client. Disabling Nahimic and then running War on the Sea solves this.

Anti-virus Software
Some anti-virus program may interfere with War on the Sea. This is often the case when opening War on the Sea and the UI consists of many white squares.
Add War on the Sea as an exception to your anti-virus software.

Update Video Drivers
nv3dum.dll caused an access violation (0x0000005).
Reinstalling graphics driver's with a clean install and without installing the VR and 3D portions of the driver's solves this issue.

Game takes 10-20 minutes to load
Not reported to be an issue with War on the Sea at this time.
On some users' machines, the contents of the Windows Network Connections will include entries generated by third-party software such as LogMeIn Hamachi and VMWare. The Windows function that Unity uses to get the Proxy Settings for the user tends to hang for long periods of time if it encounters one of those third-party network connections. It's probably not able to get what it wants and just ends up waiting for a timeout. I suggest looking in Control Panel -> Network and Sharing Center to see if there are any network connections added by third-party software. If there are, try disabling them to see if it fixes the problem.

Game will not Run Correctly

Restore Default Options
If you are having difficulties with the options settings:
Start the game.
Press Escape on the Main Menu
Select Restart with Default Options
This will delete your options file (if it exists) and restore the game to the default settings.

Mods
Check your override directory. If a new update has been released you may be running a mod which is no longer compatible. Remove the override directory and if this resolves the crash, contact the mod author to let them know their mod requires an update.

Mac Catalina+: Running War on the Sea
War on the Sea runs perfectly fine on Catalina and above even though Steam may report that it is not compatible.

Stability
Overall War on the Sea is very stable. However if you experience intermittent crashes to desktop we recommend:
- Turning V-Sync on in Options.
- Decreasing Ocean Complexity in Options.

High GPU Usage Causes Hard Lock Up
In Options, ensure v-sync is on.
Also decrease the ocean complexity.

Multiple Monitor Support
Multiple monitors are supported.

Run the game with the Full Screen option off and drag the window across multiple monitors.

You can also move all the user interface elements anywhere you want by using the unlock icon next to the main toolbar (in combat) and dragging the various panels.
