What we know so far from Beta footage day - full list
Watched all the beta footage and the TheKknowley Q&A (links below). In case you don't want to watch hours and hours of videos, here is a summary. I definitely recommend watching the gameplay footage and give TheKknowley a like for taking the time and answering all the questions. Please feel free to comment if I missed or misspoke regarding anything.

Equipment
- Players have an Overkill Weapon meter. When full, they can call for an Overkill Weapon. The two in the game right now are the Piglet Grenade Launcher and a sniper. Overkill weapons will be dropped near the players (around 30-40 meters) and can be picked up and used by any player (regardless of who filled the Overkill bar). They can be called more than once per heist.
- Unlimited zip ties.
- No body bags, you can just pick bodies up and drop them elsewhere.
- No Akimbo in beta.
- Guns have predictable recoil patterns.
Skills
- 150 infamy levels.
- More than 100 skills, 16 skill trees, 21 skill points (probably limited in demo). You have to research skill trees to gain access to them.
- No perkdecks.
- Armor works differently and doesn’t fully regenerate like in PD2. Armor can be regained through skills (for example, a skill that allows to resupply armor if you pick up ammo after a kill). Armor is mainly gained using armor bags.
- No jokers in game.
- There is a skill that allows you to use one of each stack (like rush stack, which gives movement speed) to speed through some objectives (e.g. take down doors).
Enemies
- Cloakers, additionally to taking you down, also pour acid on your equipment.
- Tasers are now called Zappers and drop shock mines additionally to tazing. They have an electric pack in the back that electrocutes them when shot at.
- Grenadier. New special with poisonous smoke. Has grenades in chest that trigger when shot. This is similar to the Zappers' weak spot.
- Cops throw flashbangs as well as frag grenades. They will avoid using frags when near hostages.
- No medics.
- No Capt Winters.
- No SWAT turret. There’s a SWAT van with an antenna. It buffs enemies and increases spawns.
Heists
- 8 Heists at launch.
- Negotiation timer trading has marginal return. The longer you want to delay the assault, the more civilians you will have to trade. Civilians seem to play a bigger role in PD3 as you can trade them for health. Health is much more valuable in PD3 – not as easy to replenish. Trading hostages to get players out of custody is not a thing anymore. Players respawn after a timer. Andreas confirmed that you will still need to trade hostages to get your teammates out of custody on the higher difficulties. This is the same as Payday 2.
- No multi-day heists confirmed.
- No escapes in demo.
- In stealth, on Overkill difficulty, there is one guard that has a pager that will continue to go off.
- You can find some resources throughout the map (e.g. locker might have ammo).
- Pre-planning items can be bought but just one item per player. No pre-planning map.
- Map is split into zones (stealth) - Public, Private, Secure.
Misc
- Difficulties - Normal, Hard, Very Hard, Overkill. Difficulty changes spawn cap rather than making cops bullet sponges.
- There are voice lines for drills but no drills in demo. Leads to assume that there will be drills.
- No confirmation of driving in the game.
- No detection rate, no dodge, no critical damage.
- FOV only goes up to 90.
- All original characters’ voice actors are the same except for Wolf. Faces are all different and not based on real people.
- Making noise, such as running, while in stealth will alert guards and make them search the area.
- VR not confirmed at launch.
- AI Bots can bring bags and have infinite equipment.
- Server side (no P2P), things like restarts (and possibly kick) require vote. This is good because there is no host, so any player can drop out without the game ending. But it's also bad because if there are no servers online, you can't play the game.
- Story: most of the PAYDAY crew has been taken out by a gang that was unhappy with what happened in PD2. The 4 OG characters are still there. Other confirmed non-playable characters: Shade (contractor and replacement for Bain), Gage (weapon supplier), Bile, Twitch, and Bakett (Backet?) (unknown).

Thanks for the log, plenty to work with and most of what has been removed was in my opinion either broken or had poor functionality in Payday 2.
