Was conversing on the FAQ thread and it looks like it might be a bug instead of an oversight. Copied what I wrote in the bug forum:

Platform: Windows, steam

Build version: Cannot get it? Whereever it's supposed to be is also not visible. The steam app itself says: App ID 1269640, Build ID: 10802698, Installed content updated: March 30, 2023 at 5:40p

Reproduction steps: Finished game, got book closed and credits
Actual behavior: Could not interact other than the escape key after credits

Expected behavior: Hoped to be able to continue the game to finish things up either based on paths I did not take or checking out the achievements I missed.
