I've been dealing with the same problem with support for 2 weeks. In the end this worked.


We believe the issue is cause by the special character issue. We would ask you to please make sure that your Steam profile name does not contain any special characters and only contains alphabetical characters.

Please note that your Steam profile name is not necessary the same name that you use to log into Steam.

Important: A Steam profile name change may not be instant and the issue might still be displayed if you try to login directly after changing the Steam profile name. We therefore recommend to wait a while after changing the Steam profile name, and then try the launching again.

You may also be required to delete a specific folder within the game's directory as well in order to resolve the issue. To do this, please follow the steps below:

- Right-click the game in your Steam library
- Select "Manage"
- Select "Browse local files"
- This will open the game's install directory. Delete the "Etc" folder if found

If the issue still persists, we would advise to delete the entire Life is Strange: Before the Storm folder and reinstall the game.
