I'm giving it a negative review because the game currently is an online-only experience and the servers are at a mercy of EA that may eventually decide to shut the game's servers down and make it unavailable for everyone. I'm not aware of any plans by EA to make the game support offline, so I assume that it'll be very dead once the servers go out.

Otherwise it's a pretty good and enjoyable game that became a solid basis for future Ghost (RIP) and Criterion NFS games, and if you want to learn where this gaming franchise took a decisive turn (for better or worse) - this is the game that you need to try out and play through. People do have their own issues with the handling and the drifting mechanics, but for me it's a very good alternative to the more basic handling in older NFS titles and I would say that it's as fun as the older NFS games are. It can be fairly challenging at times, but overall it's a very chill experience.
