Steam deck controller settings?

Been having a little bit of trouble binding the controls for this game. I did try a couple of community configs but with little luck. Am I missing something?

Yeah it's a bit strange. You have toggle on or off analog mode in game not the steam menu by pressing the "select" button on the steam deck. (top left, between the d-pad and your screen). Then you can bind your keys slightly easier. You would also need to press "select" everytime you launch the game, otherwise you won't be able the steer.

Are u using any community gamepad setup/layout or standard default valve layout?

I'm using one of the community layouts I think. I might have tried both at this point
