poor Demo pacing
The Demo is a good example how NOT to introduce a game. First it makes an exposition dump, then takes away the players control to showcase controls in a long automatic session (instead of letting players do that themself).
Then the first time entering the game, it demands to fight a pretty hard enemy (for a completely new player) that requires using a specific weapon that has to be activated, and specific tactic. (getting around the shield, using the evasion).
-> instead of first let player test the flying, and shoot down some cargo containers as targets.
Then, after the single encounter, it demands using yet another ability (scanning) and some boring discovery and talking interaction with some refugee ships (who are those refugees, why do I talk to them, why do I need to tell them that they can fly by themself?). i would rather shoot at some targets at this stage of the introduction, not search for several map-markers.

Not a good introduction to a game you want to showcase.

And the strafing looks just silly with this comical rolling.

i was interested in buying, then i got frustrated by this "demo". i totally agree
Agreed. Stupid demo if you want people to buy game.
yeah. i just tried the demo and it was bad enough that i wanted to come here and complain about it. first was kinda annoyed that i couldn't play on easy. then the tutorial was super confusing because it wasn't obvious that i wasn't controlling the ship at first. and then the first encounter felt like a boss fight and i just kinda ended up staring directly at the shield and could tell that i wasn't doing any damage and was probably going to die.... and i know i needed to try and fly away from the enemy and whatnot.... but i had just ran out of interest and was just waiting to close the game and complain about it.
The demo convinced me I wasn't interested in purchasing it.
Just tried the demo and ran into similar issues. Once I figured out how to recharge my shields as well as boost away from enemies I cleared it on my second try. Definitely a lesson in how NOT to do a tutorial when introducing gameplay mechanics in a demo to new players. Did they correct this in the full version?
