this game is absolutely wonderful. It has amazing graphics and a wonderful plot.

Personally, just not for me. I couldn't for the life of me get into the story. The whole aesthetic of the UI with the scratchy texture really turned me off. And the slow first 2 hours really leaves a bad impression. Tried playing it back in 2020, and recently gave it another go in 2024, but nope. I am never going to finish this game.

I saw so much praise about this game and how it's one of the best PS4 exclusives, but it just feels... hollow, fake, artificial? I was expecting something truly unique, but instead I got a theme park with really a story that simply didn't grab me, generic really boring combat and an extremely tedious meaningless crafting system. Despite the game trying to be somewhat realistic, the movement of the protagonist just feels weird and extremely arcady, just look at how Death Stranding, RDR2 and Monster Hunter do character movement to make it more believable (even the earlier PS2 and 3DS titles really). And the yellow ropes for climbing up objects feel like I'm back in a 2010 corridor on-rails shooter.
The only positive thing I can truly say about this game is that the enemy visual design is very unique and interesting. The subsequent combat with them isn't.
I would rather play RDR2 or Breath of the Wild for the second time to have a much better time with an amazing open world title than spend another 5 hours on this.
