This is not the Kind of game with multiple Endings, like Mass effect, Dragon age, etc.
So to answer your question, no they dont affect the ending.
They are Collectibles (for completionists)

while i am enjoying the game i really wish devs didnt do this and would instead take the time this stuff takes up and put it into fleshing out the story.

What these relics actually do for the player is fill in the blanks of the worlds history. There are a lot of interesting lore items hidden in the world, but they are also completely unnecessary to completing HZD.

Okay, I wish gamers would understand that the decision that they are discussing happened a decade ago.

If you don't gather all the collectibles you don't lose out on the story. You just don't know the full scope of it. If you don't want to take the time to gather collectibles well, why would you like to stop and read the lore that was tied to the collectible? You wouldn't. That is inconsistent.

Collectibles give rewards. They can be used to make you or your gear better.
Don't like it. Don't do it. You have the solution in your controller.

I would recommend checking out this guide as getting the best armor spans well, the whole game. There is one item you need which it parctically in a cutscene.
