This is the reason why I have multiple manual saves and always do a manual save before closing a game, if something corrupts I have quick saves autosaves I can try to minimise the loss
EDIT: Looking at others issues with recent saves I suspect something happened with Steam Cloudsaves. Disable Steam Cloud/Put Steam into Offline mode/Disable internet then load the game so you load local saved games. Hopefully they didn't get screwed too
Edit: i tried logging in offline and loading different saves but it still doesn't fix, it's like if the game files got corrupted or something, don't really know how to explain this
OP hasn't responded since they tried using what I suggested in post #1. You could try that
Not working
The solution was isolated down to block cloud saves, in particular from 3rd parties.
White list the entire game directory for malware/antivirus SW
I would guess that if you MUST use cloud saves, then Block the save directory from the Cloud. Assuming you can.
White listing the save directory would probably be a good idea.
Good Luck, from Prepare to Die Edition
