Camera fix
Are you tired of the camera being off center when you are traveling? I found this trick by accident (I have only tried it with KB+Mouse, it should work with gamepads):

1. If your camera is offset to the left, rotate your camera so you face the left side of Aloy.
2. If you camera is offset to the right, rotate your camera so you face the right side of Aloy.
3. Now make Aloy walk in front of her (press A or press D accordingly).
4. Now move the camera to face the back of Aloy again and now it should be perfectly centered.

BTW, you don't have to stop your character to do this, you can do it while moving.

I know it's a bit annoying, but at least it can save you from some nausea because the offset camera position.

Or you can just right click on the mouse to "aim" and have the camera snap back to its original position. Much faster imo.

Gotta try that. It does sound easier.

As long as you only use "w" when moving forward, and don't press "a" or "d" and control her direction with the mouse she will stay centered on screen. Impossible to do during combat, but works for just walking/running.

Hi. I tried it but got the message: "new game version, update.."

I bought the game on the Epic Store and I think I have the latest version (I even deleted my .exe file to allow the client to download it again).

If it's of use for you, the HorizonZeroDawn.exe file has the next version: 1.0.10.5 and the launcher says the game version is 6278995_global.

I bought the game on the Epic Store [...]
I made it for the steam version 1.0.10.5, didn't expect Epic to have it compiled differently.
I just modified it to find the function by pattern search. If you can tell me if it now works, as I don't have the epic version to try on.

I'm at 50% progress in the game and will probably do a NG+.
Afterwards I'll just delete HZD and go back to developing stuff for CP77 ^^ so use me while you can.

I tried the new version and it worked just fine. The camera only moves to the side when you are aiming down a weapon, like it should. Thank you very much.

TehRick I just wanted to give you whole-hearted thanks for making this. I was about to give up on the game after around 20 hours because I (physically) couldn't take the off-center camera anymore, it made me feel ill while playing, but I found your fix and now I can actually play normally.

Thank you. I wish Guerrilla had been able to do this for their customers, and I already read that Forbidden West has the same bad camera system. What a shame.

You all but rescued this game! How does a PC port not have this option.

If not for the game crashing every 15 minutes, it would almost be playable. 😥

Thank you! It works perfectly. I hate when I cannot control where my character is at on the screen. I prefer to be on left or center, never right. <3

On the "read me" it's saying "Either Compile the main.cpp or download the executable." what does "Compile the main.cpp" means exaclty? i'm using the executable method but just wondering what the other option is. :cryptothink:

What it says: compile the source code. Most people use a compiler, but originally this was done by hand-- manually writing CPU-specific object code in hex.

If you want the exact details, well, start with Kernighan and Ritchie's The C Programming Language, which is under 300 pages. After that, Aho and Ullman wrote a 600-page book Principles of Compiler Design and then an 800 page second edition called Compilers: Principles, Techniques, and Tools.
