I initially left a positive review but came back to change it.
I think the game has nice puzzles, investigating the mysteries is challenging while not too hard if you just read and think about it.
However there's one very important detail that broke the game for me mid-play: Your choices make no difference at all.
Halfway through the game I noticed that no matter what you choose for character portraits, who you accuse of a crime, who dies, who is arrested: it makes absolutely no difference in the game. You will not get penalised, and reality will just conform around what you chose. Anything you do will be correct. This is immensely dumb to me, removed all challenge from the game. You will never know if your deductions were correct or if you put the right person in jail.

The dialogue is very cringe in this game. Open world but actual progression of cases is very linear - What's the point? Also the character design is awful, Sherlock looks straight out of an anime. Super dissappointed.

As a long time fan of Frogware since the first "modern" sherlock game, this game was dissapointing in almost every way.

Gameplay is a copy of The Sinking City and that's not a good thing. All new mechanics get boring very quickly, even quicker if you played TSC. Same problems with open world, fighting and puzzles. There is no wrong choice in this game and no punishment for doing something wrong. Speaking of wrong choice, none of them matter anyway, it's just your moral compass and you won't even know were you even right about the suspect you chose in the end.

Story would be okay, if it wasn't a game about Holmes. Trying to make a character like him more emotional doesn't really work, and adding mental problems into the mix is just crazy. Writing of Sherlock and John relationship at times make me feel like I'm reading a yaoi fanfic, same goes for Velmer. And, okay, I understand that you're trying to make player choose more empathetic verdict for suspects, but why is almost every suspect of the game is a victim of the one they killed, there's literally like only two suspects in the whole game who are genually evil, speaking of which, one of them is a r*pist and when you choose to arrest him your choices are either help african refugees and let him go or hang him and refugees will continue to suffer, what were you smoking to write this?

Graphics and sound design are good, Cordona is a beautiful island, but it can't save the game on it's own.

Hope next game will be better.
