windows 11 doesn't do this false positive?
You keep making assumptions. I never said it does not or may not happen, just that so far no one has reported it on steam. Someone could have had a false positive and just not posted about it.
Any antivirus/malware program is potentially capable of a false positive. I really do not see why this is an issue, you do not need to worry about false positives....only real positives :p
Hehe, oh well there we go, we got our answer :p
Oddly though some people never get a warning, I have never had Defender do this on any of my computers, including several laptops and desktops over various versions of windows (though I have not upgraded to 11 yet, as my 10 works how I want, will upgrade when I have too).
Though this and other people having a similar experience, helps to back up its a false positive, as if it was defo a virus, it would flag up on everyone's computer as well as other anti-virus programs also flagging it up, certainly it would be a known virus by now (considering how long the game has been out, usually it takes a few months at most to identify new virus).
Which is why its slightly odd, as you would think defender should be working the same way on everyone's systems, so why does it flag a possible virus for some people and not for others?
I never found a definite answer for this, (ie if its looking for patterns in code, surely it should flag up the same bit of code for everyone?) The only thing I can think of is maybe background programs or certain hardware/driver combinations are affecting the way the algorithm is running (though that could be totally wrong).
