Its not possible.
Felt even worse for the poor nautiloid seeing it like that. (Back in the old 2e Spelljammer days, I never realized that those things were alive.)
I agree with you as someone who enjoys looking around. I just got to the same part and am a bit bummed that you can't look around and take it all in more. Maybe there is a mod by now?
And this is something I complained about too lol. Can't look up or down. Down is a little bit easier, but up you gotta back up and watch where up becomes down.
But like the other guy said...there's really nothing up there to try and find, so we're good.
It's just not INTUITIVE :/
