An unpassionate thumbs up. I truly cannot put my finger on it but something about the pacing or gameplay never flows right for me. I had the same issue with Portia in which I enjoyed most of the pieces and couldn't tell you what wasn't clicking but I was never that enthused, never in "oh my god where did the last ten hours go??" flowstate.

I LOVE mining and a lot of the character writing is fantastic. Unsuur is such a stand out, his one liners actually took me out a couple times and I loved how unique his events were for the genre. The main plot is very full, polished, and I had a great time at points.

Farming feels pointless, so I skipped it, as does raising animals, and decorating didn't have enough options to bother but I don't really consider those a downside either because the game is so much more than that. And even though building your house was finicky I enjoyed the unhinged freedom. Some of the characters are insufferable (Elsie) but ..good? There's a lot of variety to the people you interact with. They all feel like distinct people. Romance feels empty, only Fang feels like a fleshed out character to me. But Fang is the only character I would have romanced so.. lol. Spaces between plot points and events feel very empty as the town didn't feel too interactive for me, but the plot keeps going and going, and there are a ton of activities to lose yourself in.

I have no justification for my lack of passion. I put almost 150 hours in and I felt nothing but mild mirth for about an hour of it. Some people LOVE it and I don't understand their fervour but I enjoyed it, got my money's worth, and will buy the next game.

I can recommend this if they ever fix the problem that constantly kicks me out of the online co-op game my husband and I play together. In an hour long session I will get kicked out and have to reconnect at least 15 times. None of the user recommended fixes have worked. Makes it excruciating to play for more than an hour every couple of weeks.

But if you’re playing solo you’ll be fine. Just don’t play with anyone else.

Compared to the first game, feels uninspired. The mining is worse, the farming is worse, and I can't really seem to develop a liking for any of the characters. The coop wasn't really coop, just an extra ten hours of grinding in a different world. I would rather be able to invite people to my game and just be able to have everyone do their own thing if they want to like in Stardew Valley. Not as memorable or great as Portia, but if you enjoyed the mindless dumb grinding aspects of Portia this game has plenty of it.

Played a ton, too bad I'll never be able to beat the game because no matter which backup I load my game crashes now. Not worth starting over as I put so much time into this save. Do not recommend wasting your time only for your game to corrupt when you a few chapters away from beating the main storyline.

This game runs really poorly on my computer.
Before even getting into the game, there was a really long load time, followed by my computers fan attempting to achieve liftoff, followed by numerous advertisements for DLC and error messages about the load times before I could access the options menu.
Guys... instead of telling me that the load times suck, maybe let me access the options menu to potentially fix that.
Unfortunately after all this, the game crashed.

Attempt number 2, load times were still very long and the computer is still trying to achieve liftoff.
I'm telling the person who gifted me this that they can refund it. Very disappointing, but at least they get their money back. ^_^

My computer eclipses the requirements for this game by quite a considerable margin, so I'm not really sure what went wrong. But my experience of this was the game crashing and running very poorly, before I even got into the game.
I cannot in good conscience recommend this.
